Hi,everyone just an update I had the operation and a weird experience it was and it turns out that they had to do a lateral meniscus repair as it was unstable and now at home recovering but having to have a brace on it, anyone had these surgerys and is it going to be tough before it gets better.😖😖.
Operation : Hi,everyone just an update I had... - Pain Concern
Operation
A repair is potentially good news so I'm glad that it could be repaired rather than trimmed and the excess removed.
I'm assuming that you've been given exercises to do on a regular schedule (mine were every 2hrs) so do those and work on regaining your full range of motion. My worst days were day 2-3 after the surgery but things eased after that and the swelling reduced and it became easier to do the exercises.
Mine r 3 to 4 times a day but it's slightly harder with the brace on at the moment as it locked in at O to keep it at certain position and having to go back on two crutches. But I can least can take the bandage off tomorrow but still have to keep the brace on.Pain isn't too bad on day 3 and still got a long road to recovery yet😞😞
I had arthroscopic surgery for a meniscus tear and a Posterior cruciate ligament repair. The recovery wasn't bad. I was supposed to use a walker but I wasn't consistent about it. I had physical therapy and did my exercises whenever I could. The experience wasn't too painful and any pain was worth it, compared to how good my knee felt after recovery, which I believe was within 6 weeks.
I don't think I could handle crutches though.
Good luck and know that you will feel better. It hurts the most for a few days after the surgery, but it will get better
