I'm not entirely sure if this is the correct forum to post this on, but here goes.
As you can see in the picture, I have an extremely mild burn on my hand which is healing. It doesn't hurt, but it's really bothering me because I got it exactly 4 weeks ago today and it still isn't gone. I also don't know why there is that massive red ring around it -is that part of the burn?
It's actually making me pretty insecure as even though it is very small, it is very noticeable and my Mum actually pointed it out and said 'That hasn't healed yet' in a sort of angry tone. When I take photos etc on my phone and do writing tasks it is obviously visible and it's sort of embarrassing.
Anyway, why has it not healed or disappeared yet? I read that it should take up to 2 weeks. It's strange seeing as it is so minor and I remember burning myself - my hand touched the grill for literally 1-2 seconds, perhaps even less than that.
Thank you for reading, it would be great if you could help me out.

Depending how deep the burn was, depends on the recovery rate. It's also in a place where the skin is constantly moving. Try using a moisturiser on it. at least twice a day.
HI one reason wounds don't heal is due to diabetes. It is very unlikely you have this but is it possible? if you have any other symptoms such as extreme thirst and losing weight then see your doctor.
You are quite right in saying that this may not be the correct place to ask for advice as no one on here is a medical practitioner. So what you should do if you are concerned, and I must say maybe your Mum should have suggested, is to GO TO A DOCTOR!
Maybe your practice nurse could advise, burns can take some time to heal and often leave minor redness in my experience. I had a burn that took six months for all the redness to disappear we are all different. Best Wishes.
Are you taking any medications which might slow down healing? I had a large spinal operation a couple of years ago and the wound would not heal for 3 months. Having dressings done every other day at the hospital. Then I had a light bulb moment and realised my methotrexate might be stopping me from healing. ( its a form of chemo and of course chemo stops rapid growth of new cells which is what healing is). Once I stopped my methotrexate for a couple of weeks the wound healed over. Hope you heal soon and if not perhaps a visit to your doctor might be needed. Best wishes. xxx
You don't say if you have asked the medical profession about this problem. I know from past experience some things just stay on the skin as a stain but don't cause problems but if this is upsetting you go and see your g p about it.
