Hi. I've been in severe pain for over 2 1/2 years (waist down, particularly waist and buttocks-I can only sit for short periods). I had facet joint injections 2 weeks ago. No pain relief but I do seem to be more flexible. What is the next step that the NHS will cover?

facet joint injections - what next?
I had facet joint injections and did get relief for about 6 weeks. Went back to my surgeon who said that as these had worked initially, I was a perfect candidate for a spinal fusion and a mini cat out between two of m discs. He outlined all the risks and asked me to go away and think about it. I told him straight away that I didn't need to think and wanted to go ahead. I had it done last May and it was the best thing I ever did! Recovery was about 3 months and I have lost the feeling on the edge/outer part of my left foot but it doesn't affect me and my spinal pain has virtually gone. Such a relief after being told nothing they could do. All done under NHS. Just keep pushing for the next stage and ask to be referred to someone else if you feel they are not taking you seriously. Took me about 3 years in total to get someone to take me seriously. Good luck!
