I get this every so often and my doctor said my back is in spasm right in the middle of my back in between my shoulder blades. I don't vomit with it but the pain and being unable to breath (each breath is like a knife) knocks me off my feet. If I keep up with my chiropractic appt it is usually kept at bay. In saying all of this don't dismiss chest pain. You never know if it could be something more serious. Maybe mention to your doctor and she what he/she says

Im sorry i cannot give you any guidance except that there is a very wide spectrum of what it could be and some of those things are serious, some are mot. My advice to you is that you should deinately seek a medica opinion at the earliest posdible stage.

Good luck

Hi hun discussed with hubby who is Ambulance Crew says it could be URI ( upper respiratory infection) - chest infection - gallstones this pain is right in middle of diaphragm but doesn't affect breathing - if you've had a cold recently could be pneumonia - if it's between could be intercostal.

To remind you though is is could be's or maybe's - as we can't diagnose what your condition is - therefore hun get yourself to your doctor asap - who will be able to diagnose more fully and treat you.

Best of luck hope you are sorted out soon - take care and let us know the outcome. 😘🤗

Any pain that starts in the chest and goes to the back should be looked at by a doctor. I have had similar and it was reflux that caused most of it and is easily sorted!

Hi, it could well be a condition called costochondritis, which causes pain around the breast bone and rib cage. It's also called noncardiac chest pain or musculoskeletal chest pain. Anti inflammatories or foods containing anti inflammatory properties will help if it is.

When I experienced this in November last year, I honestly thought I was having a heart attack, with the same symptoms you're describing. The pain was eased with anti inflammatories but just knowing what it was helped. It lasted 2 to 3 weeks.

To be on the safe side, see your doctor to rule out something nastier. Please.

Hi. I thought i would add my reply to your post about Costochondritis, to offer and inform others who may not be aware of Costochondritis and share of my experience with having it which may help and shed some light.

I got Costochondritis 2 years ago, and had some tests done at local hospital, all came back clear, ecg, blood test, chest xray.

I did some research myself into what it could be causing me sharp chest pain mainly when i breath..

I found out about Costochondritis on U-Tube and i found the video link below, and i ended up buying his product.

I managed to buy a product called a 'Backpod' from the inventor man below in the video, he's from New Zealand and a Physio.

I was able to contact him online, and we chatted about my about my symptoms, he was so knowledgeable and helpful after my hospital diagnoses came back negative.

I did research on his product which he was telling me about, the backpod' which was available to buy from Germany and hot all from New Zealand. After using the backpod for awhile, pretty soon after infact, i felt instant relief i felt my back ribs felt more open and i could breath better and the chest pain i'd been feeling for months, had vertically eased significantly.

I still get chest pain from time to time recently over last few months, but i haven't been using the back pod as it's only minor chest pain, but still not nice.

I've just used the back pod again 10 mins ago, first time in a year and half, and i can feel my chest already more open and i've no chest pain when i breath in now, and it feels wonderful.:-)

Thank you for that, very informative and he made it easy to understand. I think that's half the battle.

Sadly, the price (I know you can't put a price on health) means that many people won't be able to afford its benefits.

My view on this is: once you've got it, you've got it for life and it doesn't eat or drink anything so it really is a one off payment, but for a lot of people already living with chronic pain, like me and quite often receiving state benefits, its a huge chunk of housekeeping money. Also it isn't available in the UK and has to be shipped in which cost even more. The cheapest I've found is still over £40.00.

I've experienced chostochondritis again since November so I seriously intend to purchase one - eventually and thank you again for introducing it to me.

Hi. Nice to hear from you.

Before i got the Backpod for over 2 Christmases ago, i used a massage lacrosse ball to try and do the same thing as the Backpod.

I laid on it carefully and gently and then moved my back in order to move the ball gently around the areas of my back which i felt would benefit. You can feel the hard ball moving into the muscles and over the ribs, and it felt good.

And you can add or decrease your body pressure weight while on top of the ball to get a harder or softer feel.

The lacrosse ball did help to open up my back ribs and help relieve some of the back chest pain of the Costochondritis.

Perhaps you can try that before forking out for a Backpod?!

You can buy one from Ebay for £4.00.

If you can get a Backpod for £40, i think you're doing well. I could only get one sent over from Germany. I know it's not cheap.. I was lucky to get it as my Christmas present.

Thank you for that. Looks like I shall be improvising with a massage lacrosse ball for now then. I've just had my birthday and got a bunch of flowers and two cards, so it doesn't look like anyone will be buying me a backpod any time soon does it lol.

I really appreciate your letting me know.

It could be your gall bladder. Please make an appointment with your doctor. Any pain associated with the chest should be checked out.

@ charmetterogers How are you feeling now? I see it was a couple of months ago you wrote your post.

Where you able to get your chest checked out and sorted by a GP or at hospital?

Are you feeling less chest pain and less feeling hot and vomiting?

I don't remember feeling hot and vomiting when i had my sharp chest pain, i had/have Costochondritis.
