Has anyone Been awarded pip without producing evidence, I didn't get time but my disability is obvious
Pip: Has anyone Been awarded pip without... - Pain Concern
I've been awarded PIP. Obviously you have seen a doctor or specialist about your disability, taking medication?? This should be ok, thats all the evidence i produced they spoke to my spinal specialist, gp, then i had a health assessment by a nurse
Hi, I was awarded PIP without producing any evidence. Obviously I detailed everything very thoroughly on the form, from symptoms to medications. My difficulties are obvious, though, and I had a home assessment with their 'healthcare professional'. I'm not sure that they even contacted any of my Doctors, but they may have done because I have several Consultants. I did give them a copy of my Social Services Statement of Care Needs, which I guess would've helped. All the best, Will.
Hi Booboo, just jules quickly here
Do you have anyone at home helping you with the application ? If you struggle with it let them know you did. We took a list of the appointments we were attending.
I was ok doing the form and had my assessment, all evidence what you just mentioned was verbally asked in my interview, she never asked if I'd got papers with me etc, feel gutted now that I might get refused cause of this but my disability is obvious, I can't even walk unaided x
well done Boo and best luck - try not to worry. The system seems very unkind sometimes. Guess its seen as necessary.
Hi booboo43 my disability is also obvious but I still had to submit consultant and doctor letters. They also asked for care plan as I have carers coming in. I also had a doctor come to my home for an assessment.
If you don't recieve the same as your DLA then appeal and send in the documents then. Hope it goes well
well done you, just a shame a lot us us on here who are struggling have to fight for it
What is pip?
Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is the successor to Disability Living Allowance DLA.
Nope. I had to fight it through the courts. Had help from Citizens Advice. It all started when I doubted and questioned the way the assessment was done.
Why what happened during assessment
It seemed to be a farce. My disability is my mobility, depression and anxiety.
The interviewer just didnt seem with it. When the assessment was put forwards. There seemed to be answers that didnt match up with what i had said that day
metalbones16 you have discovered the destructive powers of DWP. Cut people's benefits and save millions
Yup. When they decided to close DLA and introduce PIP they planned to save 20% of the bill. So change criteria. Changed the number of points awarded so you needed more to qualify.
No one gets ligetime award anymore. All have to keep being reassessed even with permanent disabilities
Just made it harder in general.
Yeah have read about that, my step dad is still on dvla, this is first time for me claiming anything
I had a lifetime awarded back in 1997. It was changed to indefinite about 5 years ago when Tories came in. Now like everyone else I have to change to PIP and apply when called forward.
Supposed to be this coming year but who knows? As I live abroad now I wonder if they will do a home visit!!!
Oh my gosh, wonder if that would effect you claim and funny enough I think this coming year is when my step dad will be called, well postman been, no report today. Hope it comes Tuesday
No but I can't claim the mobility part.
Your step Dad will likely be in the same group as most of us. A long time claimant.
Envelope will land when you are least expecting it. Guess the are all on reduced man power over the holidays.
Booboo, I'm a little confused; when you received the form to fill in, presumably you filled it in?? Why didn't you send any evidence with it when you returnedit to the DWP?? It's from this and what you write on the form that guides them to either award PIP straight away or invite you for an assessment. You're not really encouraged to take all your medical evidence to the assessment because the assessor is only the 'messenger', albeit usually a rubbish one!! There were many inaccuracies on mine so I went to MR and then onto tribunal but that's not really relevant for you at the moment!
Like I say, why didn't you send in your evidence with the form??
They rang me to go to appointment next morning, was really quick
So you didn't fill in a form, they just invited you to the assessment??
Yes but it's first time I ever done this and I thought they wrote to professional people, oh dear, live n learn
Oh I see! I know it's too late now but with any disability benefits forms, they always ask you to send in medical evidence to 'back up' what you've written.
It may be that if your disability is as obvious as you say, the assessor will have noted this and he/she gave you enough (recommended enough) points for you to qualify anyway!
You'll know when you get your decision letter (actually you'll know from the copy of the assessment record because the assessor gives their opinion of how many points you should get for each section and you can look online to see what your total equates to on the award 'scale'!!)
If you don't get what you believe you should, you can request a Mandatory Reconsideration so don't be thinking that that's that!! 😊 THEN is the time to send in your medical evidence!!
