this could be the nerves knitting together again. to be honest i do not know .after i had an operation i was all numb and i still am in places but i started to experience burning and stinging feelings when i tried to walk and it was very painful indeed and only lasted a few seconds. i'd check back with your doctor if i was you and get a proper diagnosis. sorry to hear about this car crash and the fractures in your back and leg. i hope it doesnt cause you problmes in the future and that your getting good pain relief for it now. all the very best to you. love grace xoxoxo

It's just possibly nerve damage from the seat belt impacting on a nerve.

Check out " meralgia parasthetica" to see if any of the symptoms are alike?

I have it and sounds similar.

Good luck.

I have something which I have diagnosed as meralgia parasthetica...loss of skin sensation on outer side of right thigh in my case, jabbing pains too. I havent been in an accident, but I have had a lot of lower back pain and I think it starts from my lower spoine.I would get yourself checked out. I am using ibuprofen cream at the mo, but if nerve pain gets really bad, there are some good drugs available. After an accident, you discover bits of yourself you didnt think about before.I hope your pains die down soon xx

I had similar feelings in one part of my leg after a cycle accident. I had a great deal of soft tissue damage. Those burning feelings were ascribed to nerve damage. 5 years later they have practically gone but o can still get them if I am very tired.

You may have the same thing or something else entirely . Your doctor should be the one to tell you what it might be though. I certainly can't diagnose.

Good luck and let use know what your doctor says.

First of all have you had an epidural? The feelings you have would appear to be nerve pain. Probably coming from your low back. It will be where they are damaged. I have the same in both legs down to my feet so know what you are talking about!! xxx

Hi an MRI (not x ray) is your best indicator for educating yourself about the many types and consequences of your spinal injuries. Have you had one yet? Have you been connected with an OT or physio? Pain and tingling can be part of nerve damage or nerves growing back. I wish you best of luck accessing some further medical help as it really sounds like you may need to do that.

Also if you also have any disturbance with bladder or bowel function please get yourself to some emergency care. I am posting as you describe the the Thigh to knee sensations. Is that on both sides? Bowel or bladder issues which are an very private consequence of some types of spinal injury and do not always present as straight forward if it is something you are not used to looking for. Saddle numbness and also leg numbness/ sensations with bladder or bowel issues can be a red flag of Cauda Equine Syndrome. This is very rare.

Still any kind of motor deterioration / changes after a spinal injury does warrent pushing for urgent medical help. The right help while you are healing can make a big difference to life longer term.

Take care 🌷 & wishing you full recovery

Sounds like the same thing I'm living with. I have multiple compression fractures throughout my spine, and rather severe stenosis. Here's a link.

This does need to be discussed with the consultant. It may be a good sign as feeling is returning. Or it may be a bad sign if you have muscles beginning to over contract. Over contracted muscles are painful. Unfortunately you have fractures which are in the process of healing so you cannot do much until the fractures heal.

Hope you can get sensible answers from the consultant. If not see if a nurse in the fracture ward can give you some answers. The nurses would have first hand experience of all kinds of fracture aftereffects which a busy consultant may not know about.
