Anyone taking this medication for neuropathic pain can you tell me about your side effects and how long it took before you experienced a decrease in the pain. Thanks.

It made me feel sick for about first week, mouth very dry but I take along with pregabalin so they both have strong side effects. In my case what would I rather have excrutiating pain and side effects or have pain . Feeling nauseous died out after week but it does help with the pain. I have been taken them for 1 month it says on the information sheet it could take 2 months before you see difference. Have noticed difference.

Not yet but I've only been taking it for one week. Ask me again in a month. Cymbalta is recommended for neuropathic pain. It is an anti depressant but is supposed to relieve nerve pain too.

Hi. That's great thanks!!

I'm at the end off my tether with mine.

All the Docs tell me that my only chace off some pain relief is:

"Deep Brain Stimulation"

but the "NHS" won't Fund it "B"""""""s.

Let's see how they feel with "Chronic Pain"

For just 24hrs. I bet you they would soon Fund it then.

I have asked my GP on several occasions to let me have one day off (from pain), to date he has not obliged. Objective should be to find something that damps things.down. You will need patience and a bit of luck. Best Wishes.

Hi.

Yes it will be nice to have 24hrs off from the

"PAIN"

They would soon do something if they where in our shoes for 24hrs !!!

Let alone "15yrs" I wouldn't wish this a my "worst enemy"

Mind you I don't think I would find one.

"WELL"

Steve.

Cymbalta certainly helps me with the pain and in combination with pre-gabelin they work well together. Could not deal with the pain without pregabelin. Obviously they both have side effects like any medication but the benefits outweigh side effects. Speak to your GP. Hope this helps. Take care.

SSRIs and SNRIs make me feel a whole lot worse, but they can work for quite a lot of people so worth a try. However, if you haven't tried amitryptylline, I'd ask to try that first as that has the most research evidence for being effective for neuropathic pain, and potentially the least severe side effects, though it will take a couple of weeks to get over feeling a bit zonked in the morning (take it 12 hours before you want to wake up to minimise the bad effects).

Have been taking duloxetine 30 mg for about six months. It is one of the few drugs I was able to tolerate from the word go. I take it along with amitriptyline, and the painkiller oxycodone. I have tried many combinations of drugs over the last 2 - 3 years, most of which were as unpleasant as the condition itself. You may get lucky early on and i hope you do, but be prepared for experimentation.

My goal was to find something to damp down the pain, keep expectations quite low so you can be pleasantly surprised.

Thanks for your advice. why do you take amitriptyline together with duloxetine. Isn't one sufficient to help with pain?
