Severe abdominal pain with persistent vomitting. . .

Hi all. Not long been discharged from the hospital after spending 3 hours in A&E to be told that I am suffering from a 'possible stomach bug'.

I have been vomiting almost everything up for the past week, which 3 days ago got alot worse; to the point where I can't keep anything down including fluids and painkillers. I have also been constipated for about two weeks, and the pain in my stomach is just agonising.

Visited A&E two days ago, was given an enema and an anti-sickness injection. Neither had helped. Last night, the abdominal pain became a lot worse. From a strong dull ache to very sharp stabbing pain. An ambulance was rang for me and I was taken to hospital.

I was given anti-sickness and painkillers via IV and a litre bag of fluid which I was grateful for, but I still vomited after it and the pain was not controlled.

Left for another hour, the doctor came back and said that I need not to worry about the constipation, the vomiting and pain will 'eventually stop' and that he is happy for me to go home.

I tried to explain that nothing was helping and I am scared to go home as I can' just about walk. He basically ignored me, told me to get some buscopan from the shop and 'come back if anything gets worse'. I only came back because it got worse!

So I'm curled up in bed, sobbing. Waiting for a telephone appointment with my GP. I have no idea what is going to happen but I need help!

Anyone had a similar experience? Any advice is also very appreciated. Thank you all and God bless xoxo

So sorry for your current woes, have you tried eating prunes, raisins to help with the constipation, also pain tablets can cause constipation. When taken for a long period of time, in my experience.Try also eating a lot of vegetables, the GP's are unfortunately only going to give meds and make notes, nothing else.

I hope your pain eases.

Sounds like you need to see a gastroenterologist. Hope your GP decides to refer you for more investigation. Ongoing vomiting isn't good.

A vegetable based laxative (not chemical based) taken with your pain pills will help tremendously. Taking painkillers causes a great many people to vomit. You might want

to check with your doctor about that. There are other pain killers that are less likely to

cause such stomach upset. I do think that constipation is your biggest problem. 2 weeks

is way too long to wait to get help.

I think you should get checked out rapidly. My mother-in -law had the symptoms you describe and it was found she had a strangulated hernia. She had been sent home once also. What did the doctors do at the hospital? What are you vomiting up? If you feel as desperate as you sound send for the paramedics or call 111 . I do hope you get sorted soon. Good luck
