Ive had 2 rounds of taxol/carbo and the 3rd is on 13th Jan then scan on 26th. If I have my surgery after 3 lots of chemo how soon after the surgery do they do more chemo? Im expected to have a hysterectomy and omentum removal. Thanks x

HI Sunny,

I had my surgery before any chemo, but I am sure that makes no odds in the delay. My experience was I had my surgery on 1st June 2011 and started chemo on 1st July 2011 - so around 4 weeks post surgery. I am sure though they will do what is safe and best for you as an individual. All the best for the operation and weakening the enemy further!

Hi Florence,

I am finding bloating so distressing again. Of all the things I have been through in the last 7 months, bloating is the worst. I started off bloating and here I am again. I think you said you were too. How are you finding it? I find walking hard as it feels like it is dragging me over.

Hi.....I've put on 2 stone since last March.....I think that was due to chemo/surgery/eating the same not exercising in the same way, menopause, the medication I'm on.....I find the extra weight horrible and tiring (although that could be the chemo), so I don't think I have the bloating in the way that you might, and others on this site do, but I have huge weight gain...which is horrible. Walking I find ok...can't walk the same distances but that is due to fatigue. Sorry not to be more helpful.

Happy New Year...where are u being treated?xx

Hi Sunny,

I had surgery followed by chemo 6 weeks later.. your body just needs to heal first. As Lizzie says they will do what is best for you. Our teams are pretty good I think

Good luck

Hi Sunny, as soapsuds says I think it approx 6 weeks after surgery for chemo to start as chemo slows down the healing, good luck Love Sue x

Hi Sunny

I had surgery then 4 cycles, then surgery and 4 more cycles. It was about 3 weeks recovery between each, including resuming chemo post op, with delay for cell counts at any stage (cycles 6-8).

Good luck with it all luv! Thinking of you xxx

Hi Sunny

I had 3 chemos, a gap or 4 weeks for the op then a three week wait for chemo to restart. The wait very much depends on your recovery from the op, and how your blood tests do. I had a kidney function test as well, to make sure. I believe I had the minimum wait, I had pretty much the same op as you, so hopefully you won't have too long a wait. I saw my consultant about 10 days after the op, he said chemo should restart within 2 weeks as I has recovered well. I got straight on to the oncologist to make sure it did.

Goodluck

Hi Sunny

I had my surgery before chemo. Mine was around a 4 week wait as well. Hope all goes well for you.

Hi Sunny

I had half my chemo before surgery and half afterwards. My surgery was like yours (debulk hysterectomy and omentum removal etc) Had my surgery Feb 3rd and chemo started again March 2nd so about a month later. Good luck with it all - I got an 'all clear' in May!!! (from a 14cm tumour and a CA125 count in the thousands!) love & hugs Janbeegee x

Hi Sunny

i have been in the same position twice, First surgery was exactly like yours and i started chemo approx 6 weeks later. Had surgery again last year half way through the chemo cycle and again was told 4/6 weeks before resuming chemo, depending on how i healed etc. I do have a friend whose chemo was postponed several times because the surgery wound took a long time to heal so 4/6 weks seems to be the target providing that you are fully recevered. As the others said, the teams are very careful. Angela xx

Hi Sunny,

I think 4 to 6 weeks is normal, I was supose to start mine 4 weeks after operation but it was delayed to 5 because I had an infection. I was told it wouldn`t make any difference to me. I was going to have 3 cycles of chemo pre-op then 3 more cycles of chemo post op but it didn`t work out that way. I had op first followed by 6 cycles of chemo. I also had my omentrum removed.

Try to get plenty of preop rest and make sure you are as strong as poss, then you heal better, don`t run before you can walk, listen to your body and rest plenty without the guilt. This is a time to accept a little bit of TLC, enjoy the rest.

Love from Tina xx

Thanks all for your replies, Id love to communicate with those of you who have had the 'same' as me. Basically a large ovarian mass with spread to the omentum. For those of you who had carbo taxol, how much reduction happened after three chemos? Im v positive but Im dreading them telling me that the chemo hasnt done anything

Hi Sunny, My experience was very similar to JanBeegee's. With each chemo, my CA125 reduced by half and the tumour shrunk. After surgery the CA125 went down to normal.Good luck with your treatment. I am sure that all will go well. They will only re-start the chemo when you are feeling ready for it.
