Anyone had experience of inscisional hernia op? Having one on Tuesday and a bit anxious. I know it's not as bad as the extensive surgery and chemo I had last year but any feedback would be gratefully received.

Dear Chrisr,
Four years ago I too was left with an incisional Hernia after the Hysterectomy surgery. After the Chemo, I went in to have it repaired and it was not traumatic at all. The brilliant surgeon cut on the same scar and although I had to be in hospital for about ten days (I am 76, which may be why it was so long) there was very little pain during recovery.
However, it is really important that you avoid lifting and straining the wound (both inside and outside) so take great care until it has all healed.
Good luck with it, I am sure you will be delighted with how little trouble this will cause you.
All the best. Lill
Hi Lill
Thanks for your answer. It's put my mind at rest. I'm usually very positive but keep getting thoughts creeping into my head like they'll find something else when they cut me open. I'm sure I'll be fine tomorrow. I was like this last year the days before my big op, and on the day, I just got up knowing that it had to be done and there was no point in being anxious I just had to get on with it. Hope everything is ok with you at the moment.
