From what I have seen on the blog all of us who undergo a hysterectomy have many, many questions. In addition to medical queries they often seem to centre around the experience path we can expect in the immediate and long term. This new free app from US support group 'HysterSisters' could be useful for some. It is a combination information and community/sharing tool to support site members, but also contains some tools such as a diary and checkpoint path.
The value really lies in the mass of articles hidden within it - on pre-op preparation, recovery, menopause and (ahem) intimacy, ongoing fitness, pelvic exercises and so on.
If you can see past the ads for US oncologists and health insurance, this actually seems to have a vast amount of information within -- though you do have to dig a little to find the articles and lists, using the picture slider at the bottom of the home screen. Some of the tools themselves hold little value in my personal view - but others may disagree. I don't like the registration bit either - but you can skip that. One suspects there will also be some differences in official lines of clinical advice between US and UK also, and should watch quite carefully for that.
Just launched on AppStore and coming soon for Android, they say. For the web-minded it looks as if this information is also accessible at hystersisters.com - and there's even a support site for the boys at misterhystersisters.com ... Hmm.
