There's an app for that: your hysterectomy...?

From what I have seen on the blog all of us who undergo a hysterectomy have many, many questions. In addition to medical queries they often seem to centre around the experience path we can expect in the immediate and long term. This new free app from US support group 'HysterSisters' could be useful for some. It is a combination information and community/sharing tool to support site members, but also contains some tools such as a diary and checkpoint path.

The value really lies in the mass of articles hidden within it - on pre-op preparation, recovery, menopause and (ahem) intimacy, ongoing fitness, pelvic exercises and so on.

If you can see past the ads for US oncologists and health insurance, this actually seems to have a vast amount of information within -- though you do have to dig a little to find the articles and lists, using the picture slider at the bottom of the home screen. Some of the tools themselves hold little value in my personal view - but others may disagree. I don't like the registration bit either - but you can skip that. One suspects there will also be some differences in official lines of clinical advice between US and UK also, and should watch quite carefully for that.

Just launched on AppStore and coming soon for Android, they say. For the web-minded it looks as if this information is also accessible at hystersisters.com - and there's even a support site for the boys at misterhystersisters.com ... Hmm.

Hi Sue

Thanks so much for this. I went straight to the Hystersisters site and registered. What a great idea. I also liked the idea of the Misterhystersisters for our menfolk and thought it would be a great idea for Ovacome.

So today I am renaned - a hystersister. Love it. I shall also look up information on the site. Really helpful blog. Thanks. xx Annie

Glad. This among others was result of one of those dreadful nights where it all comes crashing I again -- I tend to write stuff to distract me. Also managed half a website and three other blog posts on various things. At least one was useful...

Really sad to hear you had a bad night. I have them sometimes but things always seem to look so much better in the daylight with plenty of distractions.

It's a shame we're all profiting so much from your misery - but we're very lucky you're always so productive.
