Hi ladies,

Well I'm home now, I went in Monday had my operation at 3pm Monday afternoon and at 11.30 today (Friday ) they let me out. I'm a bit sore but glad its all done. I had the works full hysterectomy plus ovaries and omen tum. The scar is not too big I have dissolvable stitches with glue over the top. My surgeon said everything went well and as I was up and walking around he was happy for me to go home. I was in Maidstone hospital which I must say were very good. The nurses were very caring although they were always busy. To anyone awaiting surgery I say don't worry its not as bad as you think. It is painful when you wake up but they give you plenty pain killers. I have another 9 weeks off to fully recover so I will be on Ovacome quite a lot.

Anyone who wants more info on the operation please message me Love to all Babs x x x

Dear Babs,

Welcome Home! We've missed you. There has been much irreverent chat on the blog while you've been away. I'm really pleased the op went so well and you're up and about so quickly. I thought it would go that way for you.

My stitches - or rather stitch - was rather interesting. It was just one stitch curled round and round like a spiral binder on a book. There was a little bead at each end so for a couple of weeks it looked as though I had a fashionable belly-button piercing.

Anyway back to you. I hope you've got everything set up to RELAX and be pampered. At least the weather has improved today so hopefully you have your feet up. DO NOT do anything! Eight weeks should be a nice long break.

I'll be looking forward to more of your posts and blogs. xxxx Annie

Hi Babs!

Welcome home. I am so glad it all went well. Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly for you now ;-) Make the most of your time off work, and let everyone do all they can to help you. It's been a big op and you will need to recover slowly. Afternoon naps are wonderful! I couldn't believe how tired I was at first, in between feeling really well, I just zonked out!

Look forward to hearing how you're getting on.

Love Wendy xx :-)

Hi Babs,

Glad to hear all went well and your back home.

My mother who lives in Italy is awaiting her operation soon, could be early next week, so i am on standby to get a flight over to Pisa and be with her until she gets out of hospital. My father and sister live out there, so they are with her, but i feel i need to be there also, at least for the op, i will go back in a month or so.

My mother had chemo prior to this, 5 rounds (3 weekly) carboplatin/ Taxol to help shrink the tumours.

Her cancer had spread to omentum and peritoneum and to the lymph nodes. I am not sure how much they can remove? Her last scan showed some slight reduction. She has been told to expect more chemo afterwards to help kill off any remaining cells.

Anyway i am trying to remain positive even though there are many scary thoughts going through my mind, reading other people accounts helps calm the nerves, i need to remain strong for her.

Many thanks to you all

Mauro

Hi Babs

So glad to hear you are home and that they kept you in Hospital a sensible amount of time . When I had my op. it was late Friday morning and by Sunday evening they said I could go. I did stay until the Monday morning though as I was really exhausted by it all and actually had anticipated being kept in for the week.

I was 'glued' too and that was great- I had barely any problems with it at all.

Take it easy!

Love

Such a relief for you that the op is out the way.. I hated my scar when I first had my op, but now it has faded a lot, 2 years since ago by the way, that if I wanted to I could wear a bikini ! You take care, rest and get well again.

Much Love
