1st Recurrence

Hello Ladies - got the devastating news yesterday that they found a 2cm tumour on my peritoneum near my liver and a couple of swollen lymph glands on my scan last week. I thought something was going on as my CA125 was slowly ticking up at each blood test.

I was diagnosed in May 2020 and had surgery last August with three courses of chemotherapy before and after the surgery.

They are meeting on Friday to decide on whether to do a second surgery or put me on monthly Carboplatin / Caelyx. They have stopped the Niraparib as it’s not working. I was on it since November of last year.

Is there any hope for me at all now?

Love Yvonne xxx

I am sorry you’ve had this news Yvonne. We all hope it won’t come back but it’s just so good at it! The good news is they have a good idea of where it is and what to do about it.

This is definitely not the end. I promised myself that I would get a second opinion and see if I could get on a trial if a recurrence was suspect ed. It was a really empowering thing to do. I learned a lot and was reassured that my local team was doing the right thing. I would do the same again I think. Maybe you could think about this? Could you find a surgeon or research team that can offer you an alternative or even just more information about how your particular disease works?

Don’t despair…you can deal with this xx

Hi Yvonne, so sorry to read about your recurrence. I was diagnosed 3b in Oct 2007 , given 2 years but despite 2 recurrences I’m still here. I totally get yr question about whether there is hope for you, I asked myself the same question several times. The answerI decided is yes, I’m still here, still breathing, still have fight., so to answer your question I’d say yes. Put that positive head on and fight. We are all here beside you willing you on. Hi Yvonne I am also living with this alien near my liver and it seems like we can all just get along with a variety of meds that are now available. This is a chronic disease that we can live with so I’m told. Let me know what you and docs decide.
