Recurrence of endometrial cancer in pelvic and para ortic lymph nodes

Hello lovely ladies

Hope you you all safe and well xx

I just wanted to ask a quick question please… my mums had treatment for a recurrence of endometrial cancer in her pelvic lymph nodes and a para ortic lymph node. Last week she received her post chemo results which show that her affected tumours have now shrunk to a normal range ie 0.7 cm which oncologists suggest is a normal size. The oncologist said she was happy with the results.

Naturally we are very pleased. Mum didn’t really ask any more questions and was hurried out… (not in a horrible way - the team treating her are very nice but I think they were pushed for time a bit)…

Apologies for perhaps asking a stupid question but if the tumours are of a normal size does this mean the cancer has been zapped up? If so, shoujd the oncologist have said she’s now in remission or is that too early to say?

Also, I’ve been reading some medical papers which seem to suggest that the prognosis for a recurrence of endometrial cancer is poor.. Is this true? Why is it so hard to treat? I’m also worried about it returning ….

Mums continuing on the trial drug of Atezolizumab. Had her dose of the trial drug only this week. Had a few symptoms but is starting to feel better. It’s a two year trial. Would love to hear from someone who can hold my hand xxxx

Love and best wishes to you all xxxxx

I havent been offered any treatment but hormones. Which hospital is your mum at and where is the trial. My cancer is low grade, I’m sorry I can’t help more, but I know how frightening this situation is to be in.

Hope things go wet for your Mum.x

Don’t know what stage your mom is ??

But for example endometrial stage 4 and ovarian stage4 both have high recurrence rates upwards of 70%

It’s a journey

An ongoing battle

But you can get thru it

Once it recurred like your moms did it’s not exactly NED but it’s more like the cancer is at bay … in control .. etc

What mutations did her cancer tumors have ?

I was on a trial SELINEXOR which didn’t keep the cancer away too long

Now I’m on a trial drug ENHERTU because I have a HER2 + mutation

Hello Supermary

Thank you for responding xx

Mum was originally stage 2 grade 1 back in 2016 and we thought we saw the back of it.

Came back in pelvic and para ortic lymph nodes in September. Hormones didn’t work but after ) cycles of chemo the oncologist has said the nodes are now of a normal size….. perhaps a stupid question but I was r sure id that meant all the cancer has been zapped up or there is a little bit left but it’s very little…..

Not sure which mutations the cancer has…

She’s on a trial of Atezolizumab. Happy to share further details. Hope you well xxxx

Hi there PPSCENE

Thank you for your post. I’m sorry to hear of your mum’s recurrence, although really pleased you have had news that the cancer has responded to treatment.

I wasn’t quite able to tell from your post whether your mum has a diagnosis of endometrial cancer or endometrioid ovarian cancer? As the MyOvacome forum focusses on ovarian cancer, I wonder if the Ask Eve forum may be a helpful resource for you. The Ask Eve forum is a space to discuss experiences and share advice relating to any of the five gynaecological cancers, including endometrial: healthunlocked.com/ask-eve . I hope some of the members of this forum may be able to answer some of the questions you have.

Best wishes

Annie
