Bit confused and concerned

Hi good morning, I had an mri and it was discussed in the MDT meeting , no mention of the 7x3 cm ovarian cyst but one 3.7cm , apparently he wants to discharge me as my ca125 2 months ago was 13 - however I did an online test this week as it is 35 which is raised according to NICE guidelines, my symptoms are still there - bloating , feeling full , weeing more - unable to hold sometimes, nausea and generally worn out , any ideas what I should do - I have a rough idea , thank you

Why don’t you ask him, or your GP, to re-check your CA125 before he discharges you? I am on this group because my Mother-in-law has OC- I don’t have it myself. But I do suffer with fairly regular ovarian cysts which can get very big and painful, and can cause bloating and constipation etc. Really uncomfortable at times. Remember that other kinds of inflammation can cause your Ca125 to rise. Tell your doc you’re concerned still and that as the bloods were done a while ago please could he re-check. Just to reassure you, I believe that imaging can tell the difference between a simple, functional cyst and something more sinister. Good luck.

I would get in touch with your GP, your cancer nurse and your oncologist and ask for more information and for another C125 bloods check. It does not seem like you, or they, have the latest information. Best wishes x

Hi the result of 35 was last week , the result of 13 was 2 months ago so has increased, I will get it checked again as still have symptoms, thank you

Hi Cathhunt! When your ca125 doubles at anytime it should have a serious look. Is a second opinion an option for you?

Hi CathMy CA125 was in what was considered 'normal' range despite having a complex cyst measuring about 4.5 cms. Medics wanted to wait three months to establish any growth...It was only the subsequent finding of a blood clot in my iliac vein that then speeded reinvestigating of the cyst and quick diagnosis of stage 2 OC. Radical hysterectomy with omemtum and lymph node removal in Dec'20 thankfully revealed no further spread but still ha six rounds of chemo which just finished this week. Please get a second opinion....

Hi Spongebobby , I’m sorry to hear you’ve been through it , I had appointment on Tuesday and he said ca125 was 13 , leave the 3.7cm cyst and rescan in a year but my pain wasn’t caused by gynae apparently, still have symptoms- feel like a nuisance and made to feel worrying unnecessarily

Honestly Cath I was going to do the same thing and leave it because I trusted what they were saying, in terms of the bloods not showing any indications of cancer. The cancer was in-fact contained therefore nothing showing up, in the bloods. I also think when the medical professional advised leaving it to see if it grew within the next three months, I felt this was a good sign and something I wanted to hear despite my reservations about all the symptoms I was experiencing. If I could save just one person having to go through this...go back and make a song and dance irrespective of feeling a nuisance better be safe than live with a terrible regret!

I will pursue it ,the thing that makes me pursue further is my son isn’t very well and I’m wanting to sort this and act fast without leaving it and becoming more to deal with - does that make sense
