Hi I would recommend you take them about an hour before you take Rubraca especially if you're taking the high doseage. I had no sickness on chemo but did when I took Rubraca.
Hello fendweller
There is some information on rucaparib and anti-sickness medication on the Cancer Research UK website here: cancerresearchuk.org/about-...
You'll see it says: "It is important to take anti sickness medicines as prescribed even if you don’t feel sick. It is easier to prevent sickness rather than treating it once it has started."
If you're not certain about the anti-sickness prescription, do check with your oncology team or pharmacist.
Best wishes

Very interesting. When I started Rucaparib I asked for anti sickness tablets and my oncologist said I don’t think you’ll need them it rarely causes sickness. She was right! I did have my dose reduced though as it caused such a drop in white platelets.
Just make sure you drink plenty of water as they dehydrate you and then you WILL feel nauseous. Good luck.
That's good to know ,I've just taken my first two Rucaparib ,I did take an anti sickness half hour ago ,but might not take the next one to see how I feel ,fingers crossed .Cheryl x
I’m Olaparib, which is similar, and don’t need anti sickness meds. Sometimes I feel a bit dodgy after taking them but I don’t notice if I’m working or busy after taking them. It’s on the days when I sit down after taking them that I notice a slight feeling of nausea. So I recommend distraction! Best of luck with them. I’m on them almost two years. 🤞🤞 for both of us!
Thank you ,I'm a great fan of distraction .day two ,so far so good. Cheryl x
Hi Cheryl, I am on niraparib and I didn’t feel too sick. When I was on chemo, the anti nausea medicine was needed. I found that if I took too much of the anti nausea meds, I became constipated. Just don’t get dehydrated, because I ended up having fluids put in at the emergency department. Hope all goes well with Rucarparib. Donna xx
I am on rucarapib since end of December. Occasionally fel queasy bit as another member says distraction helps. Get constipated but no horror stories so far and bloods been good. Whether its doing its job will have to wait for PET at beginning of June. Had one after mycovid vaccine and it showed no signs of my bone mets but some lymph nodes were showing up and they were ok before. They think it could be a reaction to vaccine and my sec ond one due end of this week so they want to give it at least six weeks before doing another scan. Hopefully you will be ok on rucarapib. Best wishes
Yes I get weary. Have picked wasd up last couple of days but whether it will last will see.
