Just an update....I have had 4 chemos since September, having the debulking operation tomorrow.
My gynaecologist/oncologist will be taking out my ovaries, uterus, fallopian tubes, lymphnodes and omentum.
Slightly anxious about it all and hoping that it all goes well.
I would love all you ladies to keep me in your thoughts and prayers. I know how positivity can help and I am a very positive person, but now and again I do feel slight anxiety. Your support is and has been overwhelming since I joined in Serptember 2020.
Thank you all for always replying to my posts.
I will update you guys as soon as I am able to.

Hi Jas, all the very best for your op. If it helps at all I was petrified before my op, shouldnt have been, it went so much better than I imagined and I was home in 4 days. Best advice is listen to yr body and rest!. big hug. Kathy xx
Good to hear from you, Jas. Getting past the surgery is a big deal. Just take it easy and be patient. I thought I would be right as rain after six weeks and began to beat myself up when I wasn’t, until the Ovacome ladies set me straight and let me know it would take longer to heal. I had a very skilled surgeon. My surgery was six hours and I was in hospital for five nights. You will be on a walker for a while. But a physical therapist came to my hospital room and got me up and walking down the hallway fairly soon. You will get through the surgery and I certainly have you in my prayers. 🙏🏽 Please update us when you are able. Best Christmas and holiday wishes from Louisiana

Don’t panic Jas you will be in good hands.Debulk was anywhere near as bad as my crazy brain had told me! Take it as a time to get rid of all the rubbish you no longer need .Take in a few things that will comfort you & make the most of being made a fuss of it’s all about me time 😊you’ll be fine...just drink as much water as they can give you, believe me it helps in lots of ways.! Hi! I didn’t have time to worry about the debulking, as I went in for a laparoscopy and he brought me out of that to sign the consent forms! To be honest I would’ve signed anyway! It was all ok, make sure you rest up but go for little walks, and by little I started up to the end of the drive and back, about 10 yards! Let others ‘do’ for you and relax! Hi , I was absolutely terrified. But I needn’t have been , it’s just the unknown. You will be in good hands. The first day after the op I was a bit rough, but your pain will be controlled. I stayed in for five days , but I was 75 and a whimp .Good luck you’ll soon be home .
I was very anxious when I had the same surgery , but I didn't need to be , it was uncomfortable after but easily bearable ,I was in five days but only because they wouldn't let me go till my bowel worked 😁 . Take a pillow or cushion for the drive home to put under your seat belt ,lots of pot holes. Good luck .xxCheryl.
All the best for your operation and a speedy recovery. I had same op in february. As above i was in 5 days with waiting for my bowel to work. Just take it easy when ur home and try to relax as well as move around as much as ur body will let u x
Very best of luck - I had my surgery on Thur Aug 20 and was out the following Tuesday. It all went well so I am sure you will bounce back very quickly.
I was in for 3 nights after my debunking surgery. I was able to get out the bed the following morning, no walker or anything but hunched over & obviously a bit sore. I think it’s natural to be worried but you will be fine. Good luck
Never fear. This is actually not a complicated procedure for the surgeon altho the same cannot be said for your recovery...get up and start moving as soon as you can and wear the abdominal brace for 4 to 6 months after...goid luck hugs from france
Hi Jas, I also only had 3 nights in, up and walking the next day. Just make sure you keep pestering for pain relief, it always took ages to arrive. Not sure of your age but it makes me smile each time I have a scan now, “is there any chance you may be pregnant”, umm highly unlikely! Merry Christmas xx
Will pray for you. Like the others have written, this surgery was not that bad. Get it all out and then you can look forward to the future with less stress over where cancer could be hiding. My doctor and nurses told me to be kind to myself. I've always been an over achiever, and they could see that in me. Rest was the best thing along with allowing friends and family to help with meals and trips back to the dr. Some even dropped by to take me for a ride on the weekend. It all depends on what is best for you. I also began to walk just a little. This meant a lot when it came to me realizing that recovery could happen. Suddenly, chemo, I had lots of it, was not the monster that I thought it would be. It became a challenge to face and get passed each week. So, yes, staying positive is the key to everything!
Jas,Fear of the unknown is completely understandable. We all had it as well. This will all be behind you very soon. It is a good feeling to know you are rid of the bad stuff. Promise you’ll get through it. My tips are an abdominal binder at home and a firm pillow to hug into your belly. Rest plenty but walk when you can. Best wishes, Nadie
Hello Jas,My wife had 6 cycles of chemo which finished in mid april, surgery on june 9th. She had pretty much the same operation as you are having tomorrow. It went very well . The recovery was also surprisingly fast and she was home with us after about 7 days. She was quite sore for a few weeks but has been doing well since then.
I wish you well and believe you will do well. Your positivity will help you greatly and I will pray for you . I have found it to give great solace .
I would add, please make sure your bowels are working before discharge. I had full debulking and only in 2 nights due to COVID fears. Had to return due to nausea: BUT it was because of bowel back up, so get them working straight away! Will say a pray for you.
I was a bit apprehensive about having the debulking op but it was easier than I imagined. I had a morphine pump which I could use to control any discomfort. I couldn’t eat for a few days so missed my Xmas day dinner. I stayed in for 7 nights. When I got home I needed to sleep a lot and I watched an episode of The Crown every day. After a few weeks I started walking a little further each day. It’s all easier than you imagine so try not to worry about it all. Good luck with it!

Hello I've just had the ultra radical debulking operation and am about to leave hospital tomorrow, I was anxious and scared but I was treated with such care and kindness throughout, listen to your body. Each day you will notice improvements, there will be setbacks but that normal. Hope all goes well love and hugs x linda

Hi, I had my debulking operation done at the end of October. I went into hospital with a 20cm mass in the right side of my abdomen which turned out to be a Gist cancerous tumor. The surgeon made the decision to go ahead with the debulking anyway to remove any further risks. I had to have a bowel resection so in all was quite a big operation. It has been a slow recovery for me mainly due to bowels settling down. Everyone is different. I can honestly say that the actual abdominal incision caused me the least discomfort. But you will be a bit sore afterwards. I forgoty ear plugs which was a mistake as hardly got any sleep. Was so glad I bought a nice soft fluffy dressing gown which served as an extra blanket and was a great comforter as well. Good luck with your op and don't try and compare your recovery speed too much with others. It takes as long as it takes for you.
Hi Jas I too had a 6 hour surgery but only in the hospital for four nights despite some small issues that were quickly resolved. Believe you are in great hands! I too had ovaries, uterus,10 lymph nodes, omentum, fatty tissue removed the Dr went through my entire colon as well checking for any cancerous tissue. The tumor was 5 by 7 centimeters . Hang tough! Keep posting on this site so we can all give you a thumbs up!
