Peritoneal cancer

I have just had my first chemo for peritoneal cancer stage 4. How's wondering how much I should isolate from friends and family due to risk of infection. Can anyone advise me. Many thanks.

Hi Maria 56 I also have primary peritoneal cancer (some oncologists say stage 4 some stage 3 ) I was totally isolated in first lock down (On chemo) but have been a more relaxed on the second lockdown ( not on chemo )

I’m now back on the Rotterdam regime

( chemo) as of yesterday, I will keep my contact as selective as possible without making things miserable, my time is now possibly limited so I’m afraid it’s a nose thumb to Covid ! I want to enjoy what’s left as much as possible.

You are at the beginning of this rollercoaster so need to keep as safe as you can.

It’s not easy but if you can be selective on who you see and keep the room well ventilated, wear a mask possibly? Clean touched surfaces and wash hands after the visits. I think you can become paranoid if you allow Covid to rule your life,.

It’s hard but I’m sure it will soon get better.

Which chemo regime are you on, it might make you feel pants and not up to having too many visitors so the choice will be made for you .

Stay safe, stay strong, best wishes to you.

Hi - perhaps also keep an eye on your white cells in particular. I was told when they are low - our resistance is more compromised. With the addition of covid virus - I’m being very cautious. Take good care!

Protect yourself as much as you can .. take precautions and if you feel low in energy take it easier as could mean low white cell or haemoglobin is low amongst other things due to chemo but enjoy life don't let covid dictate ..family and friends if I'll should also be cautious and let you know ...end of day it's your choice to visit etc Wish you well stay safe
