Hello, I’m coming up to one year since diagnosis and will shortly be heading back to work. I was operated on last April and was found to be stage 1c3 clear cell ovarian and 1b uterine. Two lymph nodes were removed but were found to be clear and peritoneal wash was also clear.

I had the ‘standard’ six cycles of Carbo/Paclitaxel followed by 25 sessions of external radiotherapy which I finished at the end of December.

I’ve been very lucky and weathered it all well so far but also know that the real stress starts now!

Sorry you have qualified to join us but sounds like you have done very well coping with the treatment.

Good luck with your return to work. I think it really helped me to think about things other than cancer. xx

Thank you, I’ve actually enjoyed my time off albeit it’d have been much better doing it with a full head of hair! My only slight worry going back to work is that the filter in my brain may malfunction...😋

Hi. Sorry you find yourself having to be here but by the sounds of it you are doing well. Good luck returning to work. I have to agree with Lyndy that being at works helps you occupy your mind in other ways, it's a return to 'normal' and hopefully you will find that it helps enormously. Hello and welcome to a wonderful group of women--and those who support their loved ones. I do agree when you're doing something about your illness, you feel less stress than when treatment is done. Hoping for you the other shoe never drops and in the meantime, as Kathy said, work and other activities will occupy your mind allowing things to feel more normal. Welcome. Hopefully you can begin to put OC in your past. The more normal you can feel with work the better you will be psychologically. We’re here to support you whatever happens, good or worrying!

Am interested as to why the radiotherapy? I have never been offered this only chemo after diagnosis, radical surgery, chemo, clear for 6 months then bam, here we go again. Surgery, now 6 months chemo (am at stage 2) then niparib !!!!

It was for the uterine cancer as the only place that could return is at the top of your vagina so they zap you to (hopefully) ensure it never returns.

Hi Yorkiepudd I am three years down the line for clear cell 1c1 and going back to work really tested new fatigue wise. My best advice is to take to easy slow and steady 😊 best wishes 🤗🤗

Hi Shellygirl, good to hear you’re three years out and with clear cell too! Funnily I’ve just had a follow up today with the radiotherapy team and she said I was doing really well but thought I might be heading back a bit early even if it is on a phased return. More things to think about! X

When I was considering going back it would have been just a month since last chemo. I didn’t have radiotherapy. I didn’t feel that great so I did delay going back for a couple more months. Be sure in yourself, only you know how you truly feel. If you feel ready then go for it, but if you have any concerns give going back further thought. There are no rules we are all individuals, give yourself time you have been through an arduous journey which takes time to recover. Look after yourself and everything else will wait it will be there when your ready 😍

Aw, I love that you have a little companion to hold onto for support and unconditional love! It’s the best thing in the world! I have a companion, but he’s not little! He’s a chocolate lab! He’s always by my side! I am so grateful to have him!
