Is anyone taking NSAIDs with their Taxols? It seems that research indicates that the effectiveness of Taxols may be extended.

Research indicates that where Paclitaxel (one of the taxols) loses effectiveness, or we become resistant to it by building up certain proteins in our system that fight the effect of Paclitaxel, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as Ibuprofen, licofelone and others that in turn fight these these proteins are extending the life of the taxols. Many of us build up resistance to chemo drugs over time. Results are great to start with and then over time progress ends and regression starts (many of us think it is a recurrence). I have seen little indication of this on these pages bu would be interested as a Paclitaxel and lately an Avastin patient.

What is the difference between regression and reoccurrence?

Hi. The words could be confusing and are close admittedly. To me reoccurence is when you have sorted out the disease, been given the all clear and then it pops up again. Whereas regression is when the disease reverts back to its earlier state and may start to get even worse.

I believe what you term regression is called refractory in US.
