Hi Ladies Just seen this on BBC news.

This doesn't apply to me as low grader and for BRAC1 positive OC only. (In saying that my oncologist has agreed to do a BRAC1 test even though only 1% chance BRAC1 positive in low graders)

However its encouraging that more and more trials and research now for Ovarian Cancer which can only been good news.

Hi Lesley. Thanks for sharing. Ive been on the SOLO2 trial for Olaparib for 5 years 7 months. Currently still NED (had scan results Weds) and a CA125 of below 3 so to hear other ladies will benefit earlier is amazing news! xx Kathy xx

So not applicable for low graders? What a shame.i can’t get genetic test by the NHS as no close relatives with the requisite cancer but I’m the only one with glaucoma which is genetic. I’ll keep asking. Great news for others though x

Hi as far as I know there is no history of OC in my family , but had a grandmother, 2 aunts and cousin who had breast cancer. He said the chances of me being BRAC1/2 positive is remote. I didn't press him to much but he agreed to do it on the NHS ?

Yes great it’s available on NHS and hopefully will also lead to further maintenance treatments for non BRACA and low grade too.

All the hospitals now need to get their genetic testing up to speed so women know their results by the time they finish their chemo. As I think you have to start the PARP within 5-8 weeks ( although I could be wrong on this ?) Unfortunately I know at Guys some ladies are having to wait a further 12 weeks for their BRACA results, adding more stress !

Great coverage in the press for OC also a good thing for awareness.

Hi Spirit22, This is fab.news for those ladies who will be eligible and I wish them all the very best. However, as a low grader (and for other rarer types) our options are more limited. Hi Spirit22, Thanks for your reply. I'm ok in myself but have a new issue with the LGOC - a tiny tumour on my right side ureter (as well as 1 or 2 other bits around) so next week I have an appointment with our lovely surgeon in London, also a Review at the Christie and also a Renogram on my right kidney as the tumour has been closing down the ureter. All of this in one week. Fingers crossed!! I have had genetic testing but am not BRACA at all. They weren't going to test me but as there was a possibility of an Jewish familial connection they did. Also, as we know, low graders don't tend to have this mutation. How are you doing Spirit22 - which hospital are you under? Gwen Xx

I am under Broomfield hospital , chelmsford , although had my surgery end of Oct 2018 ha! on Halloween which seemed apt. Finished chemo beginning of May and latest scan NED. Couple problems, post operative mid line hernia and blood clots apart from that well. Oncologist want me to start on Tamoxifen ? and see him again in 4 weeks. Hi again Lesley, You're a relative newby then - I am abt. 5.1/2 years on. I have been put on Tamoxifen when my recent CT scan showed a tiny tumour on my ureter, taking me off Exemestane which I don't think must have worked at all. HopefullyTamoxifen will do it's job. Will update when things have straightened out somewhat! Gwen Xx
