CA125 update

Hi, just wanted to share today’s news. I’ve been getting a lot of tummy pains, likely still post-op (surgery last July) so I had an ultrasound which shows what they think is a cyst, had a ct scan and waiting on results but had bloods done and my CA125 is 3 x so relieved, just hoping the ct scan results are good. Has anyone who’s had the surgery ( radical hysterectomy, BSO, omentectomy, peritoneal stripping etc) still had tummy pains (like pulled muscles) more than 8 months later?

I still get pains too, though rarely now. My Onc said that the staples used in surgery can become agitated or if in the right position the staple may cause pain. Your CT scan should shed some light on the issue. Wishing you well.

Yup! My gut pains are adhesions from the surgery which was nearly 3 years ago.😊

Me too, I had the pains all through my 2 year remission; through treatment again and still get them sometimes. After surgery everything heals, but the scarred tissue doesn’t stretch like normal tissue so it tends to pull and cause pain. It’s really annoying but at least not threatening unless it causes bowel trouble further down the line. It might be worth you having a chat with your surgeon for reassurance. Your CA125 is brilliant !

Consider getting a scope for your tummy. I know it’s a different location but I had a lot of pains and the scope showed gastritis and diverticulitis.

Yes to ongoing pain such as you describe- not always just occasionally. Also I think I am more susceptible to muscle strain- convinced myself I had a recurrence recently as pain in my side and it took a few days to remember that I had helped carry a chest of drawers down stairs...derr!

It's been 2yrs for me...I was having pain in tummy alot last yr they did a scan and found out I had incision hernia.from where they cut me open.i had my whole stomach mesh repaired.it could just be scared tissue your experienceing.good luck 💗

It's been 15 months post surgery for me and yes ... I am also still having pain. In fact I asked this question here yesterday as it worries me that the cancer is back. I am 3C and it's scary from time to time with this pain but believe it has to scar tissue as my CA125 is holding at 14. I even get sharp pains where my ovaries were and then also had a double bowel resection so there is a lot of pain throughout my abdomen as well. Best wishes for your CT scan results! I live for mine and am so relieved when the results come back. The answers here have helped me as well ... so thanks to all that have responded ... as it helps everyone! God Bless!

Thank you for your response, it does seem to be that the pain lasts, and it seems that scar tissue is a common cause, but hoping the ct results will put my mind at ease. I know I’m not alone in worrying about any pain or niggle and I’m trying to deal with those feelings but all the support I’ve received really does help x

Hi ladies

I am 7 months post op and still gets pain from time to time

I always had bad migraine when I had my period

Believe it or not my migraine comes back every month for about 2 days but mild

Plus having extreme hot flashes

Hi, sorry to hear about the migraines still, I used to have menstrual migraines too but fortunately they’ve stopped and I get get the odd one but think it’s related to the Avastin x
