Hello lovely ladies, I saw my oncologist yesterday and discussed with her stopping Avastin. As my blood test results are good, CA125 stable between 8-10, and my last two scans show nothing new, she has agreed I can stop.
I’ll see her again in April after a PET scan and blood test.
I’m so pleased I just want some “normal “, and to see how my body feels without a constant topping up of chemicals.
I know that if anything rears it’s head it’ll be Chemo as well as Avastin, but it’s a gamble I’ve decided to take. It’s been non stop treatment since I was diagnosed in October 2017, so a break is going to be very welcome.

Sounds good Joy. Chemo etc can stay in the body for months so a break is a good idea.Enjoy your freedom!

I chose to not start Avastin due to existing medical conditions that I believed would be possibly made worse. My Oncologist didn't totally agree, but I believe you know your own body and sometimes you have to take the leap and do what is best for you. Good Luck x
Delighted to hear your numbers are good, long may it last. My team were originally putting me on Avastin for 24 sessions but they stopped early because my 125 was normal. I continued to be stable for three years
Thank you Maus. I’m fortunate to live in France where the cost of Avastin was never raised. There is no post code lottery here. Had I still been in the UK when I was diagnosed I would not have been offered Avastin as it’s not funded by the health authority where we lived.

Gosh yes, I would have had my next infusion tomorrow and I’m now popping in to work to do a bit of prep! Who knew I’d be so happy to be doing something so ordinary. 😉 x
Congratulations! How great to feel good and finally get a rest from what was your “ routine “ very happy for you🤗 I had incidentalfinding in Fallopian tube during routine hysterectomy 3/18. Chemo 6 carbo/taxol done 9/4/18. Ca125. Started at28. Now 3. January 18/19. Had bladder lift surgery found tiny spot ... positive SO. Now this week start 6 more rounds of chemo with carbo/Gemzar and maybe Avastin. ... then talking about Avastin long term. ... what side effects did you have with Avastin and how long were you on it? Sorry for rambling. Been very upset 😢 with recurrence after less than 5 months. Any info would be appreciated. Thx. I’m in US. 🙏🏻 X
Hello, I had 6 rounds of Carbo/gem/Avastin then 8 rounds of Avastin on its own for second line treatment, the last 3 weeks ago. I found the combination fine (better than Carbo/pacletaxil as steroids and anti sickness sorted the side effects. I need a break from Avastin now as the joint pain and fatigue was just too much without an end in sight. I want a break before I recur so that I feel up to the challenge of third line. X

Sounds very positive. It takes a while to lose the build up of toxins but then wow am so happy for you.

Hi Joy. I can understand your feelings of freedom but I couldn't do it. Avastin has been my wonderful crutch after 2nd line for more than 4 years and I just couldn't take the risk if letting it go.
I also remember that when I came off chemo from 1st line, I felt as tho I'd been cast adrift, I'd become so used to the hospital appts.
Anyway, that's me. We're all different and I wish you well.
