Gemcitabine/carboplatin

Has anyone had after effects when finished gem/Carbo cycles. I finished 4 weeks ago. Talking about nausea and low energy/light headed etc. Generally feeling unwell. Thanks Therese

Hi Therese. Does sound like something I experienced for a while after completing chemo, it was a case of needing to build up one's strength again. However, if you are even the slightest bit concerned then contact your CNS. They might suggest that it might be worth getting your bloods checked. Hope yo9u are feeling better soon. Kathy xx

Thanks Kathy. Have bloods already booked tomorrow, and Oncologist Friday, so fingers crossed this is not anything related to my actual cancer. This was second line treatment, and it was pretty tough completing the 6 cycles. Had pushed CA125 right back again a few weeks ago, so just need to sustain that now. I have been feeling pretty grim for the past two weeks.could just be getting paranoiac about the reason :), and it is a bug I have picked up. All will be revealed. Therese xx

Please get the nursing staff to check your weight and BP as well. Your weight is important in working out dosage. Be careful as a fall could be more disastrous than this dreaded disease! With a depressed immune system it could take ages for broken bones like hips to come right and could even turn fatal.
