Hi all, Last Friday I had my tummy drain and they took 4 litres of fluid, I’m just wondering if my tummy should still be painful, I still feel/look 5 months pregnant. I’m thinking I just have to give it a few more days for things to settle down to normal. Anyone else had this experience?
Drainage: Hi all, Last Friday I had my tummy... - My Ovacome
Drainage
Yes, it's normal to have some discomfort after a paracentesis, at least it is for me. My oncologist told me it can take awhile for your organs to readjust and move around a bit after having been "squished" by the fluid. Some people don't seem to have a problem, but I do every time I have it drained.
Hello there, I was diagnosed with SOC 16 months ago. My stomach was distended so much that it looked like I was expecting twins ( at the age of 70). I had 9 litres of fluid drained and had aches for a short time, the hospital fast tracked me to chemo soon after, which stopped the pains and any further need for drainage.still have flab! After 3 sessions of chemo had an op to remove a 15cm cyst. I'm still here and on my second lot of chemo(caelyx) . Not losing my hair this time. Hoping for the future and going on a trial once chemo finishes.
I had four litres the first time at my local hospital and five litres at the Royal Marsden a month later just before starting chemo. I had a lot of bruising the first time but none the second go but yes, I has some discomfort both times. If your tummy doesn't look better in a couple of days ask either your GP or the hospital to do the simple 'roll and gurgle test' to see if any more has accumulated.
