Hello, I’m starting my mop up chemo in Friday after my TAH and debulking in August. I have just been told that my CA125 is 115.

I thought it would be lower than that at this stage, should l be worried.

Sorry to sound like a wuss but at the moment I’m so anxious and teary about everything thing, which isn’t really like me at all. Big hugs to all xx

Hi, I don't think I'd worry too much as they say it's not always a good indication and I've seen some ladies say theirs is in the thousands. I didn't know my CA125 until 3 months after my chemo finished and have no idea what it was at the beginning. It's only since reading the comments that I've seen how much it can vary.

I'm sure others will be able to help you but if not try MacMillan or ring your cancer nurse. They will put your mind at rest.

Best wishes, Zena xx

Dear Tay,

I think you have to finish the entire regime of Chemo, befor it gets down to below 35.

Mine was similar until after the next round when it suddenly dropped to 11!

Mind you, I was delighted when it fell below 1000 after the 3rd round of Chemo.

Don’t worry, be happy!

Best wishes,

Laura

Hi Tay100

Try not to worry to much , mine went up to 130 after surgery. Just finished my last lot of mop up chemo today and it’s dropped to 15. They said it was the inflammation from the surgery that made it go up xx

Nothing to worry with 115. Chemo should take care of it easily.

All the best.

Mine was about the same after surgery. It's very common for it to rise due to the inflammation caused by the operation and nothing to worry about. I googled it after I was told the number and didn't believe the reassuring words from my oncologist. I found a study that concluded there was no link between CA125 levels in the weeks after surgery, and eventual outcomes. Then I stopped worrying. After post-op chemo (2 cycles) it was down to 15.

I was told that mine would probably rise again after surgery and before final chemo and that is quite usual. Try not to worry and concentrate on getting yourself strong again x x

I had neoadjuvent treatment and my ca125 before surgery was 14 then 116 after (had a minor freak out) and my onc told me not its not reflective of anything (except swelling) till the next ca125 which was less than 14.

Hi, Tay...at surgery my CA125 was over 3500. After surgery it went down to 129. at the end of 6 sessions of chemo it dropped down to 8.

You will be just fine! Already your CA125 went down so much just from surgery. Chemo should radicate the rest. I know about this feeling of wanting to be strong , then fearful and then teary. It seems to be a course we take when we are hit with such news. The good news is that you are going through this at a time when science is at its best. So many options out there which are working. For now...just get through the chemo and you will be a new person once finished. Wishing you the best.
