Ladies, I am in a quandary. Two years ago when I had my op, I invested in numerous pairs of Harvest Festival knickers ( all is safely gathered in)
These have now gone baggy and disreputable. The last pair have gone in the bin today, and I am back in the knicker drawer sorting through scraps of nylon and lace. Do I embrace the more feminine items of underwear, or go out and buy another selection of apple catchers?

Your post had me laughing, Jenny, although it hits quite close to home. I've decided to keep both kinds, and wear whatever feels right on the day, but ideally something neutral when going out in public. Nightmare vision would be to have a traffic accident, go onto the stretcher and one EMT remarks to the other: 'My god look at those knickers... my children have tents that are smaller...'

I took the plunge this weekend and threw away most of my lacy smaller pants - no use with the stoma and if big mummy pants good enough for Hugh Grant , they’re good enough for me - and so much more comfortable - I held onto them after surgery as stoma reversible but I had already more or less decided to keep it when I had to start monitoring for possible recurrence - I think whatever brings maximum comfort is the way to go x
I should buy pairs of both, some for the good days and bigger ones for the less good, I love the ‘All is safely gathered in’ analogy. I have several pairs of those knickers in my drawer doing active service 😂xx

Love your terminology, it really made me chuckle. I have both kinds too, the bigger ones give a much nicer line under trousers and are good for those days we feel ‘less svelte 🤔’ and the smaller ones for other times. It’s certainly a matter of choice and, most importantly, what you feel most comfy in. You can now get some bigger knickers that are really attractive and nothing like the humongous gym knickers I had at school. Do let us know how you go with this one 😊❤️Xx Jane
I've just relented this summer and started wearing harvest festivals (we call them that too 😁). I mourn my more attractive undies but my, they're so much comfier! I've found Bon Marche the most comfortable (but pretend I've bought them for my Mum!). Ahaha as if we don't have more important things to think about!! Xx
I stay with my M&S high legs and bikini briefs, and have done for years. When I first had my stoma I tried for tummy support knickers but couldn't cope. So went back to my old favourites, and just wore a support belt around my stoma. Now I'm so swollen everywhere the support belt doesn't reach around me, and the knickers are insignificant to the belly bouncing around un-contained. I'd now consider them pretty pad holders that happen to hide my lady parts in event of a strong wind sweeping up my skirt.

This reminds me of the last time I was admitted during chemo. I save my giant knickers for hospital stays, to protect my modesty 😄. The doctors came to examine me, and I’d forgotten about the giant pants, so when he wanted to feel of my tummy, I revealed them in all their glory, and he said, “Goodness me, Miss Jones, those are exceptionally large pants!” Inappropriate but we both cracked up, and his little posse of followers didn’t know where to look 😂 Obviously another Bridget Jones fan!
That made me laugh - as you say wholly inappropriate but a great way to lighten the mood x

Try Full briefs from M and S or Primark, they are not too old fashioned yet comfy
Agree totally. Not too expensive and very forgiving. I have mostly black ones, with a slightly louche leopardy print for variety. Deb xx
I hadn’t heard of harvest festival knickers but love it. My Dad always talked about sheep dog bras though. Rounds them up and points them in the right Direction!
