I put this message on Facebook this morning - before the storm came and we had to unplug everything. Storm now passed so I would like to share this with you all. I have edited it slightly so that it now applies to all of you who are so special to me.
"Cannot believe that at this very time exactly one year ago I was being told that I had incurable cancer. Who'd have thought that I would still be here causing mayhem and mischief. Without my fabulous husband, beautiful family, wonderful friends and spectacular teal sisters, I would have faded away months ago. Thank you all for being in my life. Thank you all so much for your kind and loving words. Are you sure you are talking about me.... I sort of celebrated by sending hubby out for a large bag of Maltesas last night and was only going to have a few but stuffed the lot. I had the munchies. Boy, have I suffered. Been awake since 5am in pain with tummy upset. Drinking ginger tea and munching on Rennies in the hope it will pass soon - literally. Never again. Looks like I won't be venturing far today then xxxxx

Thank you darling. I've been on and off the loo since 5am and I'm shattered - as well as worn out and with a sore derriere. I'll never ever do it again. Hubby has said that even if I beg, cry and plead to have the dreaded Maltesers again, I'm not 'aving 'em. His foot is firmly down. He's right of course. I've missed a morning with my girlies at a craft fair (at which we are exhibiting) because of my stupidity and to top things off, the workmen have returned today to tarmac the lane after putting our cables underground. They began the job a year ago and we don't see them for months on end and then they reappear again on the day I feel like mush. Still, that's the French for you. The whole house is vibrating with the noise and if I wasn't still in my nightie and not wanting to stray far from the loo, I'd be out there beating them away with my broomstick. Instead, I'll go back to bed, via the loo...... xxxxx

One year on and still coping with your new normal - including not being able to stuff your face as you probably once could. Yeah, I’ve fallen into that trap a few times myself.
Funnily enough I was also up in the early hours today, pain management is pretty good but I do get break through- had hot chocolate and Oxynorm and cuddles with my 2 dogs whilst managing not to wake hubby. He can now get up first while I catch some late zzzs!
Thank you Iris. The reason I'm suffering is because I'm gluten intolerant - and a stupid cow. At my age you would think I'd know better. Can't even blame hubby as he did warn me but I insisted. He's being very kind to me at the moment but I'm sure he's itching to say, I told you so... xxxx

Hi. I guess you are living in a Malateser-free country - that is probably a good thing with hindsight. Maltesers are chocolate balls with a sort of honeycomby texture type of biscuit inside. All revealed here - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malte...
They contain two things which my digestive system hates, barley malt and wheat flour. I was still suffering today but hubby took me for lunch at our favourite chinese restaurant and I think I ate enough (gluten free) food to push the last of the Maltesers out. Sorry, too much info. Feel much better now. xxx
Hi Kryssy, are you a Coeliac like me? If so, be very careful as I've found it impossible to eat out at Chinese restaurants as when I've asked advice, I've found everything contains gluten, mainly because of soy sauce. Indian food is better for not containing gluten. You've made me want Maltesers now!! I found it so hard to give them up when diagnosed with Coeliac Disease 42 years ago. My son was at Uni when diagnosed. He was 20 and said, " How can I be at Uni if I can't drink beer or lager? ". He did get his priorities right though - had to develop the liking for cider. So much easier to get gf lager and beer now though. Hope your tum's ok now, love Solange 😊

I did the same thing on Wednesday, but not with Maltesers but a large bag of sea salt and balsamic vinegar crisps (I only ate half the bag, honest!). It’s the first time I’ve had crisps since I realised that they make my mouth really sore - guess what, nothing has changed!! Yesterday I started developing a cold sore too - not sure the two things are related!
I’m girding my loins for my appointment today - the decision has to be made about when I start chemo and although I still want to push to have it after my holiday, I’m beginning to feel that there is something that isn’t quite right going on so I may have to give in and hope I’m ok in two weeks time.

OMG! Salt and vinegar crisps. My absolute favourite. So hard to get them here. Probably just as well to be honest knowing my lack of willpower. I'm writing this after reading your post-appointment post so am rather down about it but I know that you'll rise above it, once you've had a good shout and scream, and we'll plod on together. Here's to the next anniversary missy. Cheers!!! Yes, I'm having a rather naughty glass of wine as I don't give a flying fart at the moment of how it makes me feel tomorrow. I've survived the 48 hour Malteser meltdown so I'm celebrating. Also, Eastenders tonight was so powerful that hubby and I both needed tissues and a drink. Having four boys didn't make it easier to watch either. Still, that's enough of that. Big love xxxx
I had a large g&t tonight, chips from the fish shop and was going to open the bottle of Harvey Nicholls Prosecco that I accidentally (honest) ordered from Ocado (it was £16 - I would never pay that much!) but didn’t do the latter as I’m feeling a bit bloated. It would have been too much fun for one evening anyway! I had a great chat with my big brother and informed all my family of developments. I’m too hot now so will have to do something until I can get cool - I haven’t even started on the Caelyx yet!
