Hi , I should have had my 3 chemo today prior surgery , but had to go to A@E yesterday with a raise temperature . Blood came back ok but have a UTI . Felt very unwell so the prof said to postpone treatment for a week . Has anyone else had this problem . Thanks in advance 🙁

Hi. My Mum has had persistent UTIs for years now, probably caused by the uretic stents she has in place. It did have an impact on the chemo timeline when she was having chemo (she has been on maintenance treatment since 2011) so I'm assuming it is not that unusual.

I hope you can continue with your treatment asap.

I also have UTIs due to uretic stents that have hospitalized me twice but are right now stable. My infectious disease doctor has me on 400 mg of fluconazole daily which is working these two months. I don't know how long I can remain on it yet. I am 18 months out since end of treatment and it's good to hear of someone with stents being seven years out!!!

I had frequent UTIs through chemo. As I felt well they just went ahead on time with my chemo - I still have problems now which have been attributed to surgery and chemo - I get what feels like an infection but is really just trauma and irritation - my GP thought that lack of oestrogen to blame too - hope you feel better soon - the adv. nurse on onc unit suggested drinking lemon barley water and it did help x

Yes I remember turning up for my chemo and when they tested my wee they found I had a utopian. I had no idea and luckily no symptoms. They postponed my chemo for a week and gave me a course of antibiotics to clear it up. It had all gone by the next week and I was able to go ahead with my chemo.

Hope you feel better soon.

Yes indeedy! I ended up in hospital twice with high temp and suspected infection...don’t worry Manchesterlady..they will get you sorted out.

You could ask for GCSF injections for after chemo..they stopped this happening for me.

Delayed chemo is also very common and won’t stop it working...just rather demoralising when you want to get it done! Try to enjoy convalescing! xx

They do get back to plan quite quickly. I had a delay of Avastin due to infection. I think that’s one of our biggest hurdles. Best to have it cleared up before surgery. They also give antibiotics in theatre and after

Thank you Lily -Anne . Treatment is booked for next week . I’ve felt very low these last couple of days . I’m 75 and wonder if all this is worth it , then I read what you and other ladies have gone through , and feel quite ashamed of myself for being such a whimp . How are you doing ? Xxxc

Hi, As the ladies have said it not uncommon to delay chemo if needed, I ended up in hospital with low blood and needed transfusion, so off chemo for over a week then back on treatment with no problems.

Being 75 young it is worth it and no need for you to feel like a wimp, it hard to keep going and it has to be your choice, I feel like giving up some time but my stubbornness kicks in and I want to be around for my family as long as possible.

Chine up and all the best for your treatment take care Lorraine xx💙💙
