Hi Winks I have never heard of this happening, if you are worried ask your gp or ring the Ovacome helpline. We always over think things.

Hi winks just want to say welcome to the group x

I’ve never heard of a lymph node bursting but as Suzuki suggests try ringing the helpline or speaking to your medical team tomorrow if you’re really concerned

Sending hugs xx

Bev

Hello Winks,

I echo Suzuki & BeeWild's advice. Good luck with the surgery, be kind to yourself and take care.

Warm wishes for a good day, Lesley

Thank you Lesley. Waiting is tiring but I am making the most of each day.

Hi Winks, my own experience with growing lymph nodes in the groin area is that they can erupt (my word because I was pretty traumatised by the event. The medics called it fungating) but the nurses at your local GP surgery can dress them regularly to prevent infection. I had 4 different nodes 'erupt' and in the end they just healed themselves so I moved on to have weekly taxol, the last of which is on Tues. Good luck with your lymph nodes and remember we are all different so yours might not go the way mine did. Try not to worry yourself (haha!) and good luck with the surgery. Gina xx

Your plot thickens and thickens.... did they erupt through the skin surface, then? And did you get a sense of whether they also do this internally, if they did? See you on the 19th. x

I thought I had replied to your message but obviously not. Yes, 4 separate eruptions broke through the skin at the end of last year. My oncologist called my photo of the largest eruption a video nasty and he's right it wasn't pretty. When/if I go back to Addenbrooke's I'll ask him whether this is how it happens internally because I didn't give that a moment's thought. I'm not in London on 19th - Helen has a scan that afternoon! After tomorrow I'm not sure when I'll be there but hopefully our paths will cross soon. All the best Gx

Oh how scary Ge0rg1na. Where were your nodes? The lump in my groin is getting more 'solid' and uncomfortable. No date yet for surgery. I think I need to be careful not to burst this node but it is hard to live a 'good' life and not move too much! It might not burst through the skin but internally!

Hi Winks, please don't think this will inevitably happen to you. I was told that it is uncommon with ovarian cancer so keep the faith! Gx

I plan to talk to the Clinical Nurse Specialist who is coming to talk to our OC patient support group called OXCHOCS (Oxford Churchill Hospital Ovarian Cancer Support) at the Maggies Centre, Churchill Hospital tomorrow at 15.00.

Absolutely the right thing to do although she may never have seen one burst before. I don't know about you but being different gives me a kick. Silly but true. I'm with you the whole way so please contact me if you need advice Gx
