Following my first surgery in 2011, the gynae oncologist recommended I use a moisturiser to keep my vagina healthy.....it wasn't one for sex. I've been using a product called 'Hyalofemme' for some time but don't really get on with the applicator.
Has anyone else been prescribed anything similar and has a recommendation for a different product to Hyalofemmme please?
Externally, I swear by YES VM. Completely hormone free and 95% organic (and now available on prescription, I believe). xx
Hi. I had loads of issues with vaginal discomfort which always developed into bladder issues. I tried a few moisturisers from the chemist, then on the advice of a gynae nurse tried Yes. I spoke to my GP, and now get this on prescription.

Yes vm is good . Now I use from boots Balance Activ Menopause pessarys .they are brilliant . Just use a panty liner after insertion. It has helped stop utis .x
I have found some of them - the ones with lactic acid in - quite 'burny' so stopped using them. For while there, I was using an ovule/soft pessary called Cicatradina, which I really liked, but stopped because I'm not sure about the safety of the ingredients. Lately, I have started using YES but find inserting the applicator quite painful, so have bought the tube of gel and use a finger.
Yes, I'm using a bit of Deumavan, at least once a day. Without it, the skin takes on almost a papery character and gets irritated very easily.

Thank you SO much everyone who has replied....You are the experts! You've given me more information than either my G.P., oncologist and Macmillana nurses. I'm going to suggest both Cicatridrina (which sounds exactly suitable for after surgery and chemo), and also Balance Activ. Having googled and researched both, either will be better than Hyalofemme. Hi Alstroemeria and any others who have an interest in this thread. My G.P. couldn't find Cicatridina listed - perhaps because it's not accepted by the CCG? My CNS was helpful though and so was the gynaeoncologist. They could find Cicatridina on Amazon, but nowhere on their own system. The gynae consultant was hesitant about how safe the ingredients were until she could check them out.... So............ I was prescribed Balance Activ gel which was hugely messy but effective, went to Boots to get the prescription and discovered that there are 2 Balance Activ products as Gina mentioned earlier! I hadn't clocked that at the time but I bought some to try and have now amended my prescription. The Balance Activ Menopause pessaries are the ones........not at all messy, easy to insert and do what they 'say on the tin'! Thank you again everyone. Problem solved. Eleni xx
Thanks for the update! I used Cicatridina for a little while and really liked it, but stopped due to anxiety over the ingredients. If you do get any more info from you team about it, I'd really like to hear. That's great news about the Balance Activ pessary. No stinging?
Hi Alstromeria..I think my team have given up on Cicatridina now as it's definitely not available through the NHS and that bothers me and the gynaeoncologist. The Balance Activ is seriously good and no, no stinging. I would certainly recommend it and have sent an email to the CNS team so that they have this in their 'backpack' should any other woman need similar help (which of course, they will...) Eleni xx
