Anyone had a large borderline mucinous ovarian cyst?
Ovarian Cysts: Anyone had a large borderline... - My Ovacome
Ovarian Cysts
Hi,
I had a stage 1 mucinous cyst(adenacarcinoma) 20x18x15 (or near enough, histology notes long consigned to the attic, thankfully).
Catherine
Mucinous is not particularly common. I had a 23 x 12 x 12 cyst but mine was stage 1C1 not borderline. Diagnosed Oct 16
Currently NED
Do you have a copy of your histology report for details.
Worth searching for borderline or mucinous in the search box for previous threads
Best wishes
Fay
Yes - I had a Mucinous Borderline tumour removed nearly 4 years ago. 22cm. Weighed about 2 kilos. It was 1c. 'Cured by surgery'. Still being monitored but now annually. Still counting my lucky stars. I think the stats are something like 3 in 100 for ov ca and 3/4 in 100,000 for Borderlines.
Why do you want to know? Have you had one, too?
I had a borderline tumor removed in August 25, 2017. It was about 14cmX12cmx12cm. All indications that it was benign going into surgery. Normal ca125 test, MRI thought it was benign. But on sept 13, 2017 it turned out to be borderline. I was told they got it all but was still recommended to get full hysterectomy and other ovary removal. On October 5 had everything taken out. Everything they took out came back normal. I have my first 6 month check up next month.
I had a mostly borderline tumour, in 2015, with some few low grade cells mixed in... but the serous cell type, not mucinous. Haven't done research on mucinous, to be honest, but borderline in itself usually has a good prognosis, so that's good for you.
Wishing you all the best.
