Laparoscopic surgery

I had a laparoscopic exploratory surgery with the intent of removing both flopian tubes and possibly one ovary...plus biopsies to check for cancer. The surgery went great it's been 1 week and 4 days...They major problem I'm facing is depression and anxiety...neither has been an issue for me before. Anyone else experience this? If so suggestions please!

Sorry you having a tough time... it is normal to feel like this.

Yes there is stuff you can do. Look at my page as I did some complimentary therapies like hypnotherapy. This really helped. As does relaxation, mediation and yoga. There are free links if you look on YouTube. Sometimes taking an anti anxiety medication for a while is the answer, your GP will really be able to help you with some of these, skid counselling. When I felt anxious I rang the Ovacome helpline too and they really helped. I also found that going to a wood or a long walk in nature hugely helped me at times. Just bring still in nature.

Thank you Nicky100, I appreciate all your feedback! I have been walking outdoors daily. Do my devotional and journaling...I have had several (30+) surgeries throughout my life ...I'm 45...and I have never felt this way...depressed that is...I do have an appointment today to try meds...which I really don't want to but honestly can't handle the constant depression!

You are the same age as me...I am 45 too. Do you have any family support?

I hope the GP is able to help you...I can really recommend complimentary therapies to help....xx

I do, my kids, parents, and friends are amazing!!! I live in a VERY small town grocery store, school, church, bar....so I am currently looking into a few things to help...I know this will pass. It's just very frustrating right now.

Wow you have been thru alot. I have never had a surgery in my life other than dental. I feel for you I really do. But it sounds like what I went thru back in my early 50s. I think its part of the midlife stuff. I am on anti anxiety meds I call the happy pills and it took two weeks or so to kick in But I feel great and am about to have a total hysterectomy plus a teratoma removed so i guess i am in for a treat.

You will be alright soon enough. That is a normal reaction. When the good news come out that there is no cancerous tissues you will be up and running. Very good of your doctor to do the preemptive surgery with no obvious OC symton as I understand. Wish you all the best and take care of yourself. This is a great site.

Hi there

So sorry that you are feeling like this. It can take up to a year to recover from a general anaesthetic and you have had all the concern about the diagnosis plus hormonal issues after the surgery.

How you are feeling, a few days after surgery, is completely normal! So try to relax and rest as much as you can and it will pass , honestly xxxx

Hi. How did you get your Gp to agree to theSurgery? I'm 32 but will like to have the surgery as my mum recently passed away from OC. She was diagnosed at 48 and died 3 years later. If you check my profile, you will see how aggressive it was. Meanwhile her ca125 stayed at 3 after 195 at initial diagnosis. Her ca125 stayed at 3 through out the spread.

Cilla18 Well, I kinda wish I would have done a bit more research before going ahead with the laparoscopic surgery! My doctor wanted to go in to explore as I was having so many symptoms that made him believe I had cancer. The problem with the laparoscopic is they can only see so much so when they went in they found my left ovary and left flopian tube ...removed my left FT but kept my LO as it looked fine....biopsies came back clear. The huge problem was they couldn't find my left ovary nor left flopian tube which is the main problem...so I had an MRI, they located both right O and FT....now I have to have a second surgery to remove those....he is undecided if it will be old school or laparoscopic.
