Stag 3c OC to Stage 4a uterine cancer

Has anyone else had their type of cancer and stage changed after total Hysterectomy and omentum debulking/removal? I’m very new to this and I am trying to become educated as possible for my sweet wife! I would give anything in the world to take this from her and fight it for her!

Thank you in advance

Hi Ballen,

Welcome to the forum, though sorry you had to join us under the circumstances. Actually, it's not all that uncommon to have a different stage and type of cancer following debulking. This is because our medical team uses the information they have on hand (CT scans, ultrasounds, etc) to give a diagnosis. Unfortunately, these imaging tests do not all show the full picture.

My mom was originally diagnosed with 3C Ovarian Cancer, though pathology confirmed 3B Fallopian tube cancer. I know some of the ladies on this site got diagnosed with OC and pathology confirmed PPC; or vice versa.

Wishing you and your wife all the best,

Kris x.

Oh, if only we could take on our loved ones' illnesses.

But you'll be supporting her in other ways. And be sure to take care of yourself.

My low grade serous cancer was finally staged at "...between 2 and 4."

We've got some very helpful members here. Don't be shy.

Hi Ballen,

My oncologist explained staging to me so if your wife's hasn't done that adequately, I suggest you ask Anna, the Support Manager at Ovacome, either by emailing her support@ovacome.org.uk or if you live in the UK, her freephone 0800 008 7054. Ovacome's website may have some useful information ovacome.org.uk/

I agree with Nancy222, that it is just as important you take care of, and are kind to, yourself. You cannot help your wife if you get too worn out. My husband & I learned a lot from my first occurrence and 'trod on eggshells' at times but by the second occurrence we knew how to work as a team...

Warm wishes, Lesley
