As I’m sure you know, I didn’t think I’d make this - in fact I thought last year’s trip would be the last - so I am absolutely delighted to be here and skiing! I’m not as agile as I used to be, so I’m taking it steadily and letting Tom do the dangerous stuff. The advice and encouragement I had from all of you helped to make this trip possible so thanks to all.

I am, of course very aware that this has been a difficult week for the forum with further bad news and I’m very sad for the families of our lovely ladies. I know it’s difficult a lot of the time, but if we can do something everyday that can take our minds off our predicament, it does make a difference.

Hoping you are all as well as you can be, Ali x

Thank you Nancy.

I hope your neuropathy is improving. I had it when I had chemo, but it has improved vastly over time.

Can’t feel my feet now, but that’s because it’s a bit cold and these blinking ski boots are not overly comfortable!!

Best wishes, Ali x

Hi Ali,

I'm happy to report the neuropathy is improving! It was a bad flare up that's now settling down.

I think there's a hill that's calling your name :)

I was told take Alpha Lipoic Acid to help with neuropathy. Touch wood, I’ve been lucky so far xxx

Really uplifting photo. Reminds me of Harpist's photo last Winter. Take it steady and enjoy the apres ski if things get tiring.

Oh yes. Nearly went again this year but decided I didn't quite have the stamina for all the ski carrying etc

No - I am finding that aspect a bit of a pain, but I’ve never found walking in ski boots easy (nor stilettos for that matter!).

Absolutely fantastic . So inspirational.

I am back dancing and went jiving for the first time last night . ( may have overdone it as spent most of the morning in bed with a headache but well worth it !) Definitely need to try and do something you love each day . Even if it is a cuddle on the sofa with the dog . ( cat or partner !)

It is such a sad and difficult time when we loose teal sisters to this devastating disease and they are forever in my thoughts and prayers but I think it somehow makes me more determined to live life to the full ( almost feel I owe it to them ) and continue to do what I can to raise awareness and funds . I am sure they would be looking down smiling at your post . You go girl 😎Climb that mountain and follow your dreams.

Love Kim 💜 ( sorry my my migraine tablets always make me a bit emotional 😭 )

I absolutely agree that not making the most of our lives does a huge injustice to the other women who have shared our experiences but have sadly died. We owe it to them and ourselves to live this life we’ve been given to the max (whatever that is for you).

Best love Ali x

A very brave lady, well done. I did not ski this season because I have a smart port, i was afraid off falling. Instead I went to the sun for a week. Skiing is fabulous and I love the photo.

Can you tell me why falling might be difficult with a smart port. Is a smart port different from a port? If I need any more chemo I'm thinking of getting a port but I wouldn't want to feel it was restrictive.

Lovely photo Ali. Enjoy the rest of your holiday ⛷⛷

I’m not sure I really knew all the words, but they seem to be quite fitting today - I hope I can carry on searching for and fulfilling my dreams until I can’t.

Ali as you know I love a bit of travel and especially love to see ‘our’ ladies out and about on adventures!

You rightly say it’s been a tough time lately, I was at the funeral of a friend just today after her body had had enough after 5yrs with a breast cancer diagnosis (so hard NOT to say ‘lost her battle’ but I SO try and avoid using that terminology) By God her family were so brave today. 3 gorgeous kids whom were her life, as was her Husband. Sweetheart from their Uni days ❤️

BUT you know what... I’ve also heard of two real tragedies. Sudden deaths. NO warnings. I know these well.

As I said to my hubby tonight. At least the fact we are ‘on notice’ means we can live our lives in authenticity AND spend the time telling family and friends how much we love them.

For this I am grateful ❤️🙏🏼❤️

Ladies - keep those travel posts coming!! Dream big 😘

Oh Sarah, how right you are. The sooner the idea that, once diagnosed, we have ‘had it’ is dispelled the better. I have a new found confidence in talking to people, trying to help them understand that it doesn’t need to be as bad as it sounds (although I constantly appreciate that I am one of the lucky ones).

As you say, Dream big!

Best love, Ali x

So right about 'lost the battle'... I have already given instructions to say I will have departed 'having lived well with cancer'. These days we are told people are battling as soon as they start - Bill Turnbull, for example. Let's take away the negative spin. We have enough negatives!!

That’s fantastic Alifit, have a wonderful time! Love my skiing too, and have managed to go twice in the past 4 years (after diagnosis) which was magical. Not this year as on treatment currently but it’s still very tempting to go to the mountains, seeing your photo!! Just try and minimise any poling uphill that’s what got me but the downhill was fab!

That is fantastic to see you on the slopes. I will hopefully be doing the same next week. Got the all clear today from my pet ct scan. GP says I am very brave to be skiing only 5 months after diagnosis, surgery and chemo but we have to live as full a life as possible I think. Hope the weather has been good and the runs nice and gentle.

Great - you will be fine. Just like you, I skied last year about 5 months after my operation and I was fine. This year has been fantastic - only one day when I got stuck in a white-out! The slopes here aren’t really geared to gentle skiers like me - you have to do some really quite difficult blues or reds to get to the gentle blues - bit odd, but now I’ve found the stuff I can do I’m happy! Enjoy your holiday, Ali x
