Hi I have bowel obstruction. Yesterday the complementary therapist at the Christie commented how reflexology can works wonders in these instance.

So now I’m looking for a local reflexologist who will treatment cancer patient in chemo. Wouldn’t it be great it a short course of reflex could help me?!

So please let me know if anyone you can recommend. Thanks

Sorry I can’t help but there are some very gentle yoga movements to get bowels moving and the abdomen “massaged”. If you are able to try this you might google “restorative yoga” and see who is near you....

Hope your blockage shifts.

Thank you. I had blind sided yoga which has been a key pillar of my wellness programme. I suppose because I’m actually in hospital.

But your suggestion has made me realise that I will be able to walk over to the Manchester maggies and join in their yoga next week. So glad it’s do close to the Christie. A result! Thank you.

Good idea. I love Maggies and this one has such a fabulous garden... can’t wait for spring to get going. Take care, Netti xxx

There used to be a complimentary therapy dept at The Christie (was there 5 yrs ago for chemo)- might be worth asking there or at Maggies over the road as they may well have recommemded contacts? I saw a reflexologist who had done some adfitional training at The Christie and am convinced it helped with my bowel issues. She is based out here in The High Peak though.. good luck, Sx

Thank you. Christie still have the comp team and it’s one of the team that gave me the idea. So rather than wait fir a weekly treatment, I thought that I’d see if I could find someone to come in or who I could visit, as I can get some day release from the ward for things like this. Pity high peak is a little far or I would have loved to follow up on the person that you used in the past

Have you tried the Neil Cliffs? They offer complimentary therapies for cancer patients they are part of St Ann’s hospice based at Wythenshawe

Thank you and I have been to beechwood but they are instructed just to relax. I’m going to contact one reflexologist who goes to beechwood as a volunteer and see if I can see her in her own clinic where she doesnt have such restrictions. Just wanted to see if anyone knew anyone else.

I’ve never been to the Neil cuncliffe. It sounds like I should explore it when I can. I will struggle to go to beechwood now I won’t be driving.

Hello Agility

The other members have all made excellent suggestions. I just wanted to let you know The British Reflexology Association have a register of reflexology practitioners and you can search for your local reflexologist here: britreflex.co.uk/bra-practi...

I hope this is helpful.

Best wishes

Have you contacted your local hospice? Mine offers complimentary therapies. Had a neck and shoulder massage last time nearly started snoring 💤

Thanks. Just now I want somehow to do reflex on a clinical level as if my vowel doesn’t improve they said my treatment will have failed. That said i need to get to know people at my local hospice and I’ve checked they offer complementary services, so I think that I will explore that once I’m thru chemo.

Thank you everyone for your ideas. I have been so lucky. I have found a clinical reflexologist insured and willing to treat a cancer patient in active treatment. She has her clinic but will also come to my house. And by chance she also volunteers at the Christie helping their complementary team.

I feel very fortunate. This lady will assess me but we will explore if the reflexology can help my bowel obstruction. I feel it’s worth the investment to see if she can help.
