Took the plunge

This morning and got hubby to shave my ever thinning bonce. It might look OK but it's all a comb over.... haven't seen the hairdresser for 6 months so at least saving on hair cuts! Got fed up of being a pussy cat shedding hair everywhere around the house . Hoping that it might kick start the whole process to start again...

meanwhile it's back to scarves and close fitting beanies in this freeeeezing weather. Never liked my wig.

You certainly need something to protect you from the cold weather. Looking good.

I tidied out under the stairs and found about 10 winter hats... 😆

Hi Janet, you look great without hair and your hat/scarf really suits you. I was glad to have hubby shave mine off but shed a few tears and cried every time a family member saw me for the first time but you soon get over it don’t you?. I rushed out with my voucher and bought a wig as close to my own hair colour and style but hated it when I got home and have never worn it. It’s very hard trying on and buying a wig ( bought mine in a proper wig shop) because they have a no return policy. Ok it only cost me £50 but I bought all the extras, shampoo, conditioner, wig stand etc. I am now on caelyx, just had my 3rd cycle, and since November my hair, eyebrows and eyelashes have grown back at an alarming rate 😃😃. I might even have to shave my legs this week 😃 . Good luck with everything.

Funny it's never bothered me either time, and was happy when I got thicker eye lashes when they grew back ( or was that an illusion). Using the rapid lash pen recommended by someone on this forum again - which is supposed to promote new eyelash growth ...

thankfully leg hair disappeared with the menopause

Sometimes we have to do what we have to do. Keep warm now is the main thing, and good luck with treatment

Yes. Agree, think we are in for a couple of milder days... but basically 15 degrees is my entry level to feeling happy with life...

You look lovely, you really suit your scarf very glamorous, I looked very odd in one so stuck with my wigs. Keep your head warm lovely, I suppose the upside is that lots of us are wearing woolly hats because it’s so chilly and they’re bang on trend at the minute.

Keep as well as you possibly can be ❤️Xx Jane

You look great Janet. It’s the ideal weather for bobble hats. I live in them. Your head feels better when you get that hair off. I’ve lost my hair three times now. I’m quite liking the easiness of bald. No brushing drying and styling hair.

You look fab. Xxxx

My sister bought me a bobble hat for Christmas - I didn't think I liked it - but now it's my favourite. I've been sleeping on an old towel to catch the nightly hair fall out on my pillow for last 3 months so it was bliss to lay my head on a smooth cotton pillow case....

Good for you, I found it liberating without my hair, easy to wash in the morning, and no more bad hair days! Plus there’s so many lovey scarfs and hats around at the moment. Hope all goes well for you. Xx

Thanks. I have a drawer full of them from the first round of hair loss, but now can't resist a lovely scarf to buy when I see one

I like the scarf, it really suits you. I’m surprised just how much hair you have left. You seem to have more than me even when it’s shaved.

I like my wig, probably because it’s straight but I’m finding it more irritating this time round. I have some normal hats with faux fur pom-poms but I won’t be able to wear them once the weather gets warmer. I have a small head and face and never mastered the art of tying scarves, I think there’s too much fabric for me. I’ve still got my retro swimming hats (think multi-coloured rubber petals and you’ll be in the right lines) which I’ll probably have to wear if I go for a dip in the sea. Maybe not because it will really be a paddle as I think the water will be too cold late March / early April in Gozo.

That's the one disappointing thing about our trip to Tenerife starting this Saturday. I've opted to keep the cvc port and am not allowed to get it wet. So only paddling for me. I have checked the weather forecast and it's looking around 18-20 degrees but mixed weather bag with it.

Bon voyage! Have a great holiday. I’m sure you’ll enjoy the holiday despite being unable to swim.

Janet, you look great. I've twice had my hair shaved off; the first time with great nervousness and anxiety with wig at hand, but I only used it once. I was just bowled me over with the number of people who commented on how it suited me, what a good skull shape I had etc.!! Like you, I learned to tie scarves and buy 'ready-mades' for warmth as well as 'feeling good'.

Warm wishes, Lesley

Yes I know I suit scarves rather than wigs, and I like the way it creates a kind of mystery look to people passing by, shop assistants etc.. is she wearing a scarf for fashion reasons or has she lost her hair due to c....?

Can i borrow your husband? I'm at the beginning stage of hair loss and surprised by the strange experience of feeling my hair follicles!! I'm learning to tie creative turbans, although progress is slow. It's something you can do, or not! You obviously have the knack as your photos prove! Give me time and I might become less hamfisted and even post a photo once I've mastered it!!

Ha! My son was better on first round as he had proper hair clippers with different buzz cut levels ( think I had a number 3 on first round) . However he not here so hubby had to to use his beard trimmer. It's a bit patchy but I'm not saying anything 🤣. It's just a weird experience for us to be engaged in this activity at all!!

Think my next montage could be a scarf tieing tutorial? It's all about the right length width and thickness of material

You look great in your scarf! I got my husband to do the same because my hair was coming out all over the place and I got fed up with it. Once he'd shaved it, I still lost more, but it wasn't as bad because they were so short (I had a number 1). I also bought a wig, but only used it once and then decided that scarfs and hats were the way to go for me. Had my last chemo 14th December and it's started growing a little bit over this last week! Much love Paula xxxx
