Feeling hopeful

Hi, I had my first post treatment appointment yesterday and am pleased to say I got the all clear. The oncologist said that she hopes that will be it but to bear in mind that with Stage 111c high grade the chance of recurrence is high. I’m not sure how I feel today, it’s a strange feeling. Friends and family are congratulating me and of course I’m pleased about the result but I’ve got this nagging feeling about recurrence. I’m sure as time goes on I’ll feel more confident but at the moment im feeling very nervous about the future. Has anyone else felt like this. I’m trying to get back to normal and planning a phased return to work in a couple of weeks so hopefully that will give me something else to think about.

Fantastic news you got the all clear 🎉

And yes anxiety about treatment stopping and fear of recurrence is very normal. We all find different ways of coping . I had counselling when I finished my chemo as physically recovered well but emotionally was in a mess .

Yoga , mindfulness walking the dog . Keeping busy and making the most of everyday all helps . Take time going back to work and be kind to yourself your body and mind need time to adjust .

Love and best wishes Kim x 💜

Congratulations on getting such a fantastic result 🥂.

Your feelings are perfectly natural, once we get off the awful rollercoaster that is diagnosis, surgery and treatment it seems like we’re suddenly cast adrift but you will come to terms with it all in time just as you adapted to being on the awful cancer ride, but this new one is much easier and nicer 😊.

Take time to adjust to your new normal, embrace your new freedom and enjoy your life to the very best of your ability.

Don’t forget your medical team are still available to you at all times if you have any fears or worries in the future and be aware of your health.

Take lots of care of you, be well love ❤️Xx Jane

Yes it feels like everyone but you is celebrating doesn’t it? You have had a massive shock to your system in every way and it takes time to readjust. I found our local Maggies wonderful and did a stress course, mindfulness course and had some counselling with a lovely psychologist. It is perfectly normal to feel how you are now. I think it makes sense to look after your health, diet and wellbeing as much as you can and that will make you feel well and confident. All best wishes going forward. Sophia x
