I am so sad to tell you all that my wonderful best friend Maryblackcat passed away on 10th December. Some of you may recall she had a radical operation in August but relapsed in October. Mary deteriorated very quickly and passed away in the her own bed in the home we shared for 15 years. This was her final wish.
Mary was the most wonderful friend you could ever wish for, a beautiful soul indeed. Our loss is only eased by the full life she lived and the complete integrity, positivity and spirit she showed in everything she did, not least when diagnosed with this terrible disease. She gained great strength from this community during her illness and I thank you all dearly for the support you gave her.

I am so very sorry, and so very shocked by this news. I know she had a bad run after surgery but really thought her absence from the board meant she had improved for chemo.
Oh. My Darling viv, truly I wish I could find the right words but I am so very very sorry. Please except in their place a cyber hug and tight squeeze. Thanks. For your eloquent post and thinking of us at a time when you must be devastated , please make sure your are looking after yourself, Mary was blessed to have you as we were blessed to have her in our community. God, I,m heartbroken this evening again a beautiful soul snatched by this wicked illness. I hope you can take some comfort as I shall that she had her wish to die in her own bed. Dear Viv, its funny (& wonderful) how some people's personality shines through their posts and the way you have described your dear friend Mary was just as she came over on this forum... with great positivity, integrity and spirit. I find it extraordinary that the contrast of extreme emotions of both happy, positive and difficult to read posts run almost side by side on this forum with acceptance and supportive love

Hi Viv, Thank you for letting us know as sad as it is, yes one more beautiful soul take from her friends on here and her loved ones. She sounds like she was a good friend to you and I'm sure you were to her it's hard to lose that friendship.

I am so sad to hear about Mary. I remember how hopeful she was a few months ago and excited about getting surgery. Before that we talked about the fact that neither of us had surgery . I was so happy for her at the time but then of course came that recurrence way too soon. My deepest sympathy to you Viv and all her family and friends . Mary she Rest In Peace

Truly sorry to hear your news. Having recently lost my sister to this disease I know how quickly the condition can deteriorate. Take some comfort in knowing she is free from pain and her suffering has ended. x

I am desperately sorry to hear this news as I asked if anyone knew how she was doing a week or two ago. She looked so young and the disease seemed to hit her so hard. God bless her and keep her. Thank you so very much for your kind and caring messages. It’s comforting to know that Mary was a loved member of the community. I just thought I would share the photo of Mary that we have chosen for the order of service at her funeral tomorrow. It was taken on her 49th birthday, the last healthy birthday she had before she was diagnosed with cancer on the day before her 50th birthday. It’s how I will always remember her – happy, healthy and loving life. Please keep her family and friends in your prayers as we say goodbye xx

It’s a beautiful photo of a very beautiful woman taken far too soon. We must keep on fighting this disease while we remember all those women who have lost their lives to it. I will remember her tomorrow too by saying a prayer for her and her family and friends .

Words fail me here. I am so shocked to read this news and can’t get my head around it. I was in really close contact with Mary and we were very close through the forum. I feel shocked and devastated. Especially for you and her family.
She was a ttotally wonderful and loving soul and I will miss her terribly. She made a huge impact on me, especially with her radiant attitude, humour and love for others.
This is really cruel. I’m so so sorry. I hope you are surrounded by loving and supportive people just now.

Mary spoke of you on many occasions and was eternally grateful for your help in seeking a second opinion. She was so unlucky to have the cancer return so quickly, yet remained positive to the end. Thanks Nicky. Christmas and New Year were hard. We laid Mary to rest back home in Ireland on Friday and I’m now adjusting to life on my own in our home. Determined to stay positive because it’s overwhelmingly what Mary wanted. But it’s hard. Still early days, though. One step at a time.
