I thought I would just share my 3 months PET scan results with you. I cannot give you my CA125 count because my blood nurse messed up a bit last week but I'll have that next week. My oncologist, who I saw on Friday, and I want to know. So, after 3 months of hell with chemo side effects it appears it's been worth it as ALL of my tumours - of which there are many - have reduced by half. No new sites either. I'm staying on weekly doses of carbo/avastin for the next 3 months but of course the level of shrinkage will start to level out a bit. The oncologist said it was "very good news" so I am geared up by his reaction. I'm not a candidate for surgery but it doesn't matter. When the carbo stops I'll remain on avastin for the foreseeable future and although I'll never be totally cancer free it should be controlled and I will enjoy every minute I get in whatever type of remission I get and don't worry about the future. We have booked a holiday at the seaside for March and I'm confident I'll be here to enjoy it.
Now the nasties have stopped being pumped into me I get stronger every day. The neuropathy eases slightly each week and I can definitely manage the little nausea I get after chemo now. Even my hair has grown slightly, but not enough to notice to be honest. Still feel the cold. Strangely, my eyelashes have grown (they didn't fall out as I only had one dose of Taxol and one of Taxotere) and they are growing curly. They went short and stubby from old age. My nether regions are still virtually hairless and I shaved my legs for the last time 3 months ago thinking I wouldn't have to again and I've just got a very slight stubble. Probably too much information but I'm really starting to feel human again. Tired of course, but that's easy to cope with. No housework, cooking etc. to do - just sit, relax and perhaps knit. What's not to like? Hubby is worn to a frazzle but he needs the exercise. he he he
I don't know if the tumours should reduce by that much so soon and I was so happy that I didn't ask any questions the other day - just hugged the oncologist and skipped out. Perhaps someone could tell me please?

Sounds like good news, Kryssy!. Long may it continue for you. I guess you may become a candidate for surgery as time goes on if they think it is appropriate?
My special person wasn’t a candidate for surgery half way through her 1st line either but by dose 6 of Carbo/Taxol and Avastin she had a TAH debulking surgery, although she did reoccur and has done twice since she’s still here she when she was first diagnosed she was told she would live 6 months with chemo and told celebrate your birthday early she’s made 3 years in March and the surgeon said she’d had the cancer at least 5 years before diagnosis so although it’s a fight carry on xxx

I wasn't a candidate for surgery either but I had the op after four cycles (every three weeks not every week like you). Things can change.
Its really good news about your scan. I read sometime ago but I cannot remember where that a rapid reduction in CA-125 and tumour burden was a good sign. Very important to relax and take things easy when feeling tired.
Hi Kryssy, that sounds good not too sure why they are not offering you surgery but you never know what's around the corner. If the chemo carries on working as well as it has done surgery might be on the table who knows. It wouldn't hurt to keep asking not to often but just once an a while.
I already know that one ovary has attached itself to my bowel and there are six or seven small tumours on the outside of the bowel. I have extensive peritoneum tumours too, as well as in the lymphs, but of course they can't take out the stuck ovary without some of my bowel and cannot take out my peritoneum and all my lymphs. The cancer hasn't gone right through the bowel so I don't get problems there, apart from the bit of constipation with the chemo, so I know the score. I would rather they take the ovaries though as I shall only think of them festering away in there but I know they will monitor me very closely every three months. Hubby had skin cancer 4 years ago and he's still scanned and X-rayed every six months and sees the oncologist every three months so they continue keeping an eye on us over here for a very long time. I'm just so pleased that my side effects from the Taxol and Taxotere are gradually fading away and my quality of life is returning. That'll do me.

ironic isn't it? all our life we wish to get the rid of the hair and now we welcome it back like an old friend!
with me it was the same, even little fluff I had on my arm had gone and when I came back it made me feel 'normal' again although it's not visible to anyone but me.
hair elsewhere will grow faster, mine didn't grow whilst I was on tamoxifen/letrozole so it only started to grow back in April this year and juuuuuust getting back to normal.
ps when you done with that handsome handyman plz send him over

Kryssy--been following your progress and so happy to hear this last report. You even sound better in writing! Love the picture of your grandson. And if you want a smile, when one of my best friends and I were changing one day in the same room, she saw my "nether region" and said "you know, alot of women pay a fortune for that!!!". Made me laugh. Continued great luck and enjoy your beautiful grandson and all his help. ox
Good news all round so pleased it’s looking good. Because I’m on carbo only I’ve had to keep up with the leg shaving- or not - so you did remind me that the furry leg warmers that I seem to have acquired need tackling when I can get my body moving lol
Great news Kryssy and what a lovely picture. My hair leg took a year to come back. All the lovely curly eye lashes have vanished again and I'm left with more eyes lashes and eyebrow on one side than the other. Luckily, I wear glasses which helps with disguise.

I'm always in some sort of crisis or disaster so there's bound to be something - like when the driver of the ambulance I was in did an emergency stop on the motorway because he thought something terrible had happened to me while I was being transported. It was just that his young Vietnamese co-person tried to kill a spider which was crawling harmlessly over my blanket. I screamed because I didn't want the spider squashed to death and hence the emergency stop and the driver rushed around the back and flung open the doors expecting to see me in some sort of predicament. Unfortunately, his co-person had uncoupled his seat belt to tackle the spider so went flying past me to the back of the driver's seat. Turned out he was a Buddhist so I slapped his wrist and told him that his mother would be ashamed of him. Luckily the spider survived and went happily away amongst the lotions, potions and tubes.
Hi I am new to this site but l have to say that your post really boosted me up as like you l have numerous tumours and will be starting chemo on Thursday exactly six weeks after being diagnosed . Hearing your good news really helped and gave me hope for the future , I have already been into hospital for a drain 12.5 litres and 2.5 stone weight lose only good thing about it lol. Excellent treatment from both gynae and oncologist team, not Looking forward to losing hair however.

I'm wishing you all the luck and good Karma in the world for Thursday. Now I'm on weekly doses my Tuesdays are spoken for but I actually enjoy going. I'm weird though. I take my knitting, my MP3 (probably called something else now) and my Kindle, slippers and a big fluffy feather pillow. I turn up like a bag lady going on holiday. I knit, listen to music, sleep, eat, play games, sleep and more eating. Chat with the patients, when my french doesn't dry up on me, and generally relax and imagine all those nasty cells screaming in agony and dying. I've had a really crap couple of months with side effects but I don't care. Got to be done. Have two wigs which I never wear and just embrace my baldness (with tufts) and don't feel sorry for myself. Slap on the mascara and lippy for visitors or going somewhere exciting with hubby, for example Lidl shopping, and keep chirpy and positive. Every day is a bonus so I don't look to the future as I'll miss the now.
Max is adorable, enjoy him while he’s so young, they grow up way too fast. Enjoy relaxing and recovering, the hair thing is bizarre, I’ve only shaved my legs once since chemo finished and the nether regions are still sparse but fortunately the bits that matter are now more like they used to be. I hope your hubby continues to frazzle well, keep knitting and getting better love ❤️Xx Jane
I honestly think my grandsons keepe so busy that I don't spend too much time worrying. Your Max is absolutely adorable! Yes, get the help now! My oldest is 11 and positivily had a melt down if I ask for help.
Great news on the tumor shrinkage.! Glad you are feeling so much better. As for hair, mine has all grown out. I miss being hairless. I got so used to not shaving that now I can put it off for ages! With winter coming I might not shave at all, except I live on coastal southeast US so shorts weather is 10 months out of the year. Lol
