Hello there,

You've found a forum for women with ovarian cancer. Whilst lots of us suffer from anxiety caused by our illness, I'm not sure any of us can really help you in the way that you need. I'm sure there are some mental health forums where you might get more support.

I hope you are able to get some help.

Hello love, If you stay on the Health Unlocked site, go to the top of the screen and click on where it says My Communities , next to the bell, then click on browse communities and you will find a forum for Anxiety Support listed there ( obviously under A ) lol. I,ve been told it is a very helpful site, there are a few others also on Health Unlocked if you scroll down through my communities, I,m sure you will find help. I,ve had panic attacks and hey are frightening. Take care, xx

Hello - I have suffered with anxiety for most of my life and it can be hell. Something that has really fixed it for me has been medication. I take a small dose of sertraline (Zoloft) each day and it helps no end. I know you don't have money to see a doctor, but it'd really only be one consultation with a GP to get a prescription for an SSRI to treat this. You can also try guided meditation or self -hypnosis tracks, there are some on youtube for free. Also, try abdominal breathing, where you focus on breathing deeply into your abdomen instead of your chest. Imagine your belly is a balloon being filled slowly with air as you breathe in, and count to eight as you breathe out. Do this whenever you feel the panic begin. Good luck and feel free to message me if you want to talk. Always happy to help a fellow anxiety sufferer!

I really recommend The Headspace app. If you can download it onto your phone. They have a 30 day course for anxiety. Hope you find help.

Have you had your thyroid checked. I felt this way and found out I had graves disease. In the meantime, can you get a perscription of Xanax to calm you. That will help, just don't stop there, go see what is causes your problem. Prayers for you.

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) can also be tremendously helpful. If you don't have money for a therapist, you can use a self-help book. Try this one, or browse some others on amazon. I used one of these books to treat my eating disorder and it was very effective. amazon.com/Cognitive-Behavi...

I appreciate that with your racing thoughts and an unsettled mind it may be hard to read and absorb a book, so try to do the breathing exercises and guided meditation beforehand. Another remedy for calming anxiety can be to do a short sharp burst of exercise - say, 10 press ups or 20 burpees. This may help calm you enough to get through a chapter.
