Scan results, not what I was expecting 😕

Results are in and they still show inflammation on the bowel lining and a little bit of fluid. Oncologist was unable to tell me what this was, she said it could be cancer or it could be something else altogether!

In terms of next step she said we wait for symptoms then back on chemo, I asked her what other options I had she said this was the only option she was able to offer me and if I wanted to go elsewhere she was happy to refer me.

I really don't want more chemo, I have had 2 lots since August 2015 with Avastin in between... need a rest.

So I'm wondering

Does anyone else have inflamed bowel lining with no other symptoms?

Anyone know of any trials I can go on?

Finally I'm considering an alternative route altogether by seeing a herbalists to not only see if it can help in terms of cancer but to help make me stronger in case I have to go back on the horrid carbo/taxol again 😕 so anyone have any recommendations in regards to this?

CA125 is also still too high for my liking at 54.

Any suggestions and recommendations for an action plan will be greatly appreciated.

Much love

Asma x

Hi Asma. I've had first and second line chemo plus avastin since diagnoses in June 2015. My avastin is on the rise and scan shows a slights increase in the few small tumors that are left. I do not have any inflammation of the bowel lining. My ca125 has risen to 200. I have no symptoms. Just a wait and see approach at this stage till i get symptoms. All chemo options from now will be a single agent and not 2 chemos together. Since it is 3 months i finished chemo i am now considered to be platin resistant. The most likely next chemo to be used is recommended as taxol. I've had this as first line treatment together with carboplatin. I was very fortunate and not ever once had any issues other then loose my hair. I never had any problems with the 2nd line treatment either. I take a lot of supplements and now eat vegan 98% of the time. Recently i stopped most supplements and was put on salvestrol and broccoli sprout capsules. Hoping to start IV Vit C again soon.I rebound every morning and use the home trainer most nights. I've also started intermittent fasting. My bowels have never been better. Not too bad considering i was dangerously close to a bowel blockage before i started 2nd line chemo. All of my life since i was little I've had problems with my bowels. I now go 3 times a day after introducing all these changes. I still work fulltime, am not tired or suffer from any other ailments, aches or pains. All my other bloods except the ca 125 are perfect. Now i just need ro put this beast called OC into a cage so I can enjoy the rest of my life. Good luck and i hope there is something in here that might help you. For inflammation of the lining of the bowel you could try aloe vera.

Thank you X

You sound like your doing really well...

I'm on the care oncology protocol and I have an appointment to see if IV vit C is a viable option for me.

I have been in touch with people in regards to supplements willing to try anything at the moment.

Best of luck with your regime x

Had a slight reality check from the Marsden pharmacists today who said a "natural" substance I had begun to take could counteract my maintenance drug...they weren't sure but advised abstinence. Could you check with the hosp. pharmacy as well...I think they can consult a data base. Good Luck Chris xx

We can check for ourselves too. This is what my pharmacist uses. It's really helpful and interesting. She understands the science better than me, though!
