One week post surgery

Well one week on from my emergency surgery for a bowel perforation and I am improving slowly. Sepsis set in over the weekend which knocked me down again due to the fact as I was day 10 of my chemo cycle and no resistance. Still on a cocktail of antibiotics but all signs improving. The gynae team here report that I had been discussed at the MDT and the plan now is to give me 2 more chemos before review and then debulking surgery. The scan taken at the time of performing the emergency surgery versus the initial one taken at diagnos showed signs of improvement so they believe I am responding to the chemo which is at least some good news. I fight on for my amazing husband and beautiful son. I am now beginning to understand some of the courage and braveness of the members of this site. You are an inspiration - I never believed life could be this tough x x

Life certainly can appear to be so so unfair at times you sound like a fighter and I wish you well in this your so right the ladies on this forum are truly amazing I ve learnt so much from them and hold this forum in such high regard . Together we are stronger I hope your recent pitfalls are soon under semblance of control much love x

Hi Eriksendi,

Wow! You have had a bad experience of treatment! I know Avastin can cause bowel perforations but it sounds as though you aren't on it. My thoughts go out to you, I hope things start looking up for you soon. You don't say what your OC history is or what stage you are but wherever you're at know that you are not alone.

What a great last sentence in your post, Eriksendi. I think absolutely all of us would agree that before this diagnosis hit us we never could have believed life could be this tough. Equally though I believe we never could have found the depths of resilience, determination - and indeed good humour. The wonderful thing about this site is you're talking to women who really understand, who've been there, got the t-shirt etc.

Anyway, back to you. How horrible to have had sepsis after everything else. I too had this at the end of last year and it was a bit touch-and-go at times with IV fluid drips etc. V scary but you do sound as if the chemo is doing its stuff. Great to have signs of improvement already.

Wishing you continue to gain strength, and belief in yourself. You will get through this, for yourself AND for your family.

What a horrendous time you have had and must have been terrified.

Just hang on in there , sounds like you are in good hands, your team have a plan of action and you are responding to chemo so you can fight this . I had some complications after my surgery and never thought I would get through it so although we don't always feel it we are stronger than we think, our survival instinct kicks in and it definitely helps knowing we are not alone . Hi Eriksendi, I agree with you and all the other lovely ladies it is a hard journey we are on but we find the courage to fight on for our loved ones. Glad to hear you are improving from your surgery and the good news about the chemo. It's true the courage and bravery on this site is a inspiration to as all , remember your journey on this site is also part of that inspiration....
