Hi there,

Just thought I'd ask if there is anyone living in Staffordshire, being treated at GoodHope hospital, Sutton Coldfield or City Hospital, Birmingham?

Hi

I am not a million miles away in Stourbridge but my chemo etc has been based in Dudley and my surgery at Wolverhampton.

Which is not a lot of help to you!

However I am considering transferring my care to City Hospital as I was very unimpressed with Wolverhampton. Just wondered if you had any thoughts to share on your experience of City?

Many thanks

Julia

PS apologies if I am not meant to ask such questions here.

Hi Julia - just down the road in Halesowen. Being treated at Russells hall where I had surgery and am having chemo.

Hi Julia.

City hospital was brilliant. I would highly recommend. However I was only under their care for my surgery as they don't do it at the hospital I chose to have chemotherapy. ( due to being closer to home )

So can't comment on the oncolgy side of things. X

Hi - I live in Solihull but had my original surgery at City and as you say - the gynae oncology team got me through a very tricky 5 hour op so have nothing but praise for them.

I have all my chemo etc at Heartlands.

I'm having my treatment at City Hospital. My operation was in October '16 - I've finished chemo and am now attending every threee weeks for Avastin. I can't praise them enough - from the consultants down to the cleaners. I live about four miles away and initially thought I would be treated at the Women's Hospital in Birmingham, but as other posts say, City is a Centre of Excellence.

Hi Jess, I live in Walmley and have been having Chemo at Good Hope for the past 2 1/2 years. Under care of Dr A Consultant Oncologist. Currently receiving weekly Taxol. Feel like Sheldon Unit is my second home. Had surgery Feb 2015 (the fabulous Mr B) privately at the Priory. I'm sure our paths must have crossed. Fliss x

LadyinPink profile image
LadyinPink in reply to Jessica-DianeB

I am there next Thursday 18 May, for Chemo at 8.30 followed by Dr A, expecting to be there until about 12pm.

When are you next there?

Hope you are keeping well, are you still receiving chemo?

Ah that's a shame, I'm in on Tuesday!

My chemo was originally Thursday's so I'm sure we have been in at same time.

Lovely clinic isn't it?

I'm 18 weeks post surgery. Had an unfortunate long delay. So I'm now back on chemo with my ( hopefully ) Final one being next week.

However my CA125 is still 139 and hasn't fallen since 1st march so who knows what my baseline scan will be?! Just keeping everything crossed.

How about you? X

Hi Jess, I have just read your previous posts, you have certainly had a rough time. Hope your last chemo goes smoothly tomo, and your end of treatment scan is positive.

You must be so proud of how your son has coped, and I hope he does really well in his GCSEs. Such a stressful time for everyone, 'Im just about to enter 'AS Exams' with my son.

I was diagnosed Oct 2014, with High Grade Serous of Primary Peritoneal, Stage 3C. I have received 8 x Carbo/Taxol, with radical debulking surgery half way, which was unsuccessful, (too much scar tissue and lesions). This was followed by 18 x Avastin, finished Feb 2016. May 2016 6x Caelyx/Carbo. Significant desiese progression spread to lymph nodes in abdomen, and mass in right pelvis. 3rd line weekly Taxol comm Feb 2017. Due No 12 on Thursday. Sadly CA125 rose suddenly 3 weeks ago, now 2600, scan ordered and will hopefully be getting the results on Thursday. Not looking forward to it, running out of options.

Wishing you well and if ever you wanted to meet for a coffee please message me.

While it is wonderful I do believe travelling can have a big impact.

Hence I chose a hospital closer to home for treatment.

I'm sure just having that link with someone close in the know offers you much reassurance.
