Invitation to Ovacome Members Day 2017

We would like to invite you to the forthcoming Members Day on Saturday 4 March. We have an exciting line up of speakers to update you on the latest treatments for ovarian cancer and how to manage day-to-day with the effects of the disease. The day provides an opportunity to hear from some eminent speakers, to meet other members and to share experiences and information. It is also an opportunity to meet Ovacome staff and discuss your views with us, which can in turn influence the way Ovacome operates in the future.

This year we will be joined by Professor Gordon Jayson, Medical Oncologist at The Christie Hospital Manchester, who will be giving two presentations. The first will be looking at outcomes for patients after trials and the second presentation will be discussing measuring the effectiveness of maintenance therapies and the implications of this for treatment. We will also be hearing from Dr Angela George, Consultant in Oncogenetics and the clinical lead for the cancer genetics unit at The Royal Marsden. Then in an afternoon session, which will follow lunch, we will be joined by Annie Gilbert, an independent researcher, who will introduce the key findings from the Ovacome Patient Survey 2016. The provisional programme is attached to this email.

The presentations will be filmed and also live streamed on the day, so you can watch us on our YouTube channel. The recorded films will be available a few days after the event, also on our YouTube channel. You can also tweet us via Twitter during the day using the hashtag #MD2017.

Refreshments including tea and coffee and lunch will be provided on the day so please come and join us for lunch, have a catch up with old friends and make some new ones. Please let us know if you have any special dietary requirements; or if you have any accessibility issues. The venue is fully accessible for wheelchair users.

Unfortunately this is too far for me to travel as I would liked to have come, Prof Jayson is one of my oncology team, what a lovely man he is and so very approachable. I'm sure he will be a really good speaker at the meeting, he explains everything in language we all can understand. I'm at Christies in a couple of weeks and hope to see him, I'll ask him to be gentle with you lovely ladies who are able to attend 😂. Enjoy ❤xx Jane
