Just found this page and 1st off kudo's to you all. My wife was on the Carbo/Taxol regiment 19 years ago for Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer. This was when the use of the two drugs were still in the experimental stage. The doses weren't known yet, so she was given very high amounts. When we asked how much she would be given the doc said if 5 pounds will kill you I'm going to give you 4 3/4.
Your-all's symptoms are identical to what my wife and our family, had and are still going thru, sorry for that newbies. Unfortunetly our family is going thru this again. My younger sister is just starting the Carbo/Taxol regiment for Uteran Cancer. She is suffering now as some of you are and as my wife. Have faith and hold on tight. We are 19 years out and still going. Don't give up. The drugs are the best we have, for now. They are for the body but faith and love is for the soul.
From an earlier post recommendation We are going to look into the acupuncture for the foot and leg pain. Thank you for that info. Yep after 19 years my wife still has that. But we still have her and that's what it's all about.
P.S. Try home made custard during the treatments. My wife said that really helped. Comfort food and its loaded with protein for good blood health.

Thank you for sharing this, it is so encouraging to us ladies. As Kagan has asked, I too would bve interested in how many times she has had chemotherapy over the 19 years. I am 3 1/2 years in anbanbd have now had it twice, hoping that I might get thgthgat long. Sorry about your sister. Best wishes to you all. Ann

Wow - so good to hear your wife's story. I too am interested in whether she's had any recurrence and further chemo during the past 19 years, & anything else she's done, or continues to do which she thinks has helped her live so long despite the prognosis. Thank you for sharing your wife's story. It really gives so much comfort and will give hope to so many women. We don't hear from many long term survivors but I guess after a long time disease free they don't want to be reminded of the bad times.
I'm sorry to hear of your sister but as you say the treatment for Cancer has gone a long way since your wife was diagnosed. I wish her every success . Take care.
Thank you for sharing your story, it has been a hard slog for you, Now you face your sisters illness, What strikes me though and I am not being negative merely making an observation that there is no great change to chemo from the time of your wifes diagnosis, Isnt this really sad all first time patients tend to be offered this regime now, I got it first time around ten years ago,
With all the labs around the world, there has to be an alternative but our health services will not change their policy to treatment. Is it that carbo taxol is more cost effective?

Are you still undergoing chemo? After my wife's Carbo/Taxol regime she under went 2 years of Tomoxiphin. The.routine x-rays and CA125 test were our gauges. Also my wife's knowing of her own body. We have to say, we did have absolute faith in our doctor.

yes, its doxil now. recently sustained 2 vertebral fractures without trauma so now awaiting bone biopsy. we cultivate hope and go forward as best we can.
