I had mentioned that I have been careful to only eat when I was hungry and to give my tummy lots of rest between eating. Saw my oncologist on Tuesday and he says the latest scan shows no sign of bloating and is happy that I feel I am acting positively. I asked if there are cancer cells present but he says he needs that info from the radiographer who can look at the scan in more detail. The CA125 level was 16. Feely reassured and asked if this might be useful for patients across the board to save them from having to go through chemo. Maybe one day he says, a study might be carried out to see if there was any proven link between lifestyle choices and relpase of clinical symptons. I would be interested in anybody elses views and experience. Gio

My recurrence was directly linked to high stress levels. My 16 year old daughter huffed off back to Dad's house and they both shut me out completely and my son took an overdose, after splitting up with his partner. I think with all the trauma and the way my daughter behaved I was up most nights upset and within a couple of weeks my CA125 rose from a previous 7 to 47 the highest it had ever been, as things went from bad to worse, eight weeks later it was 102. The tumour was on the March. As it was the same as last time, histology said recurrent, in the same place as before, I'm convinced this is a direct consequence.

I was speaking to a friend of a lady who has gone with a very strict intake of low calorie foods and restricted salt diet. She is two years post Avastin and doing well. As for me, I do try and if I am not hungry I dont eat until I am. I am trying to totally cut while bread and have a green juice every day. Of course the biscuits with the cup of tea but I try just to stick with plain Oatie Biscuits and brown scone if I am out. But then again I can fall by the wayside. Last check up was okay have scan in May and we will see how it goes from there. I also agree with Lily Anne that stress does play a big factor. Prior to my original diagnosis my parents were unwell and one died so my Mum was on her own and a big worry. Then she got dementia and had to go to a nursing home so visited her as much as I could when on treatment. She passed just as I completed my first regime. I retired last year from work and for the first few months took a delight in not working or having responsibility for anyone except myself. I think this has reduced my stress levels a lot.

I think stress causes most of our ailments in life. I was working for a government agency that had gone through huge lay offs for the course of six years. I hated my boss. I had lost of family stress. I was diagnosed. Went through treatment and tried to find my way back to work. Very stressful. My city no longer wished to accommodate my part time status so I was forced into retirement. I fought it as I felt I would be well when I could return to full time. It was so disappointing. I felt like a failure. BUT I did retire. My stress level was immediately reduced. Life is so much better. For the first time in my life I am.sleeping and not full of anxiety. I am stopping to smell the flowers. Is life perfect no! Never will be but it is certainly much better.

Most studies that I have read support that endometrial cancer is highly linked to obesity and recurrence is more likely with obesity. I guess you would consider that lifestyle choices. Not knowledgeable about any other types of cancer but certainly relative to endometrial and several other types of cancer. Hope your new lifestyle choices has a powerful impact on fighting this disease and helps to give you more energy. Good luck with it. My mother has finally decided to begin changing how and what she eats. I hope she too, will become committed to what she feeds her body since it is relative to what she feeds this cancer.

My onc feels that exercise or diet doesnt make a lot of difference to OC as it is familial.

I do my best but fall by the wayside and I dont beat myself up anymore for enjoying the odd biscuit cake or sweet. If I dont want to go for a walk, I take it my body needs a rest.

I think I follow this regime because it is a comforter. I have ppc and I really fear a relapse. I like to think I can keep my tummy from feeling tight when I bend over to put on socks or tie up shoe laces. There is a lot said about positivity so I think this is my of doing just that but thanks for your thoughts, others views are always there to learn from. Gio
