Hi everyone, my mom was operated towards the end of march 2015, she has to go for other rounds of chemotherapy every three weeks but two weeks back she got an acute pain in the abdomen which was categorized as Ulcers is it the same as any of you, am from Uganda.

Hi Luutu,
Has your mum been given any medication to help protect her tummy whilst on chemotherapy. Chemo can be very harsh on the lining of the tummy. Drugs such as Omeperazole may help.

It's difficult to comment as abdominal pain and ulcers can be caused by so many things. I started with that about a year ago several months after finishing treatment, In my case it seems to have been caused by a lot of vomiting and/or using aspirin. It is now much better since I have been taking omeprazole.
Perhaps your mum could discuss with the oncologist? I think people do take it while having chemo.

Yes. I got gastric ulcers during treatment with carboplatin/gemcitobine. It was thought that it was not the chemo that caused the problem but possibly the steroids I had with the chemo to reduce nausea. The ulcers were diagnosed after a gastroscopy and because they were bleeding I was treated with a drip of omeprazole over a weekend in hospital. This seemed to do the trick. I was not in pain but was very breathless with the slightest movement which was how the problem was picked up. My chemo treatment has now ended and the ulcers have not been a problem since then. Have you tried with natural medicine? I trust on it. GFresh Ginger Root may help a lot. My mother is taking 30 gr daily.
