Doing The Race for Life

Hello Ladies

I am doing the #raceforlife today in Norwich a year on from first surgery I will not be setting any records it's more a two fingered gesture to this disease and to celebrate still being here. Of course I am trying to rise funds for Ovacome, also Macmillan and my local hospital the Norfolk and Norwich. I learnt recently that they will be facing financial penalties for not hitting targets for cancer treatments...trouble is nationally detection is up so more patients in the system than ever. Penalising them financially seems illogical and doesn't compute in my brain...

Will be thinking of you all on the way round.

Well done, hope you are not too achy & tired. I love any two fingered gestures at this disease. Good on you, Helen x

Many thanks Helen

I didn't run, my daughter skipped. It was a lovely day the sun shone and everyone there today raised a total of 150k I don't know how much research that buys! I haven't done anything for charity apart from pick up the phone and donate for a very very long time so I am pleased to have been able to just 'do something'. Cancer seems to bring out the warrior princess...

Well done you and your daughter, I completed the race last year also in Norwich. My daughter and I raised £600, my local hospital is the NNUH.

Thanks I didn't run though it was a nice stroll. Post op and two children running is not my best thing. Have to sort my pelvic floor out as a matter of urgency! (that's probably too much information) maybe I am not the only one?

Good on you too. I did find it very emotional. Particularly reading other people's back stickers. A lady running in memory of an 18 month old was tough. I wasn't prepared for that.

Thanks Francesca

Good luck for your Race for Life walk too. Yes, feeling like you are ''doing something' is helpful to me too, as I do feel pretty frustrated mostly.

May I ask what stage your Cancer was 11 years ago?

Well done!! I've sponsored you retrospectively. I'm sponsoring quite a few people at the moment! I'm doing Race for Life (10k!!!) on 12 July. I've also signed up my daughter. My sister is doing it on another date with her daughter. We are raising money for Cancer Research UK because of Mum having ovarian cancer. I donate monthly anyway. But I would like to raise money for Ovacome/Macmillan too with perhaps an event at my home but just deciding what would be best. I've seen the 'Night in for Macmillan' but not sure how to donate to more than one charity. X

Hi Jane

Thank you so much for sponsoring us. Nearly raised £1k which I am delighted about as I am splitting it between several charities.

Good luck for yours in July.

If you set up a virginmoneygiving page you can select more than one charity and the proceeds go direct to them which makes it so easy.

Best wishes

Esther
