Morphine

Does anyone have morphine patches and are they better than oralmorphe which makes me feel sick, also are the patches stronger?

So sorry that you are going through this.

Morphine patches , I think, contain a drug like morphine called Fentanyl. I had Fentanyl after my first operation and was not sick at all...I had morphine after the second and got really sick ! Do you have a clinical nurse specialist to talk to about this...or what about your pharmacist ? As far as I am.aware there are tablets that can be given to help the sickness from these drugs and it tends to get better over time.

Hi there .. I have BuTrans. They've been very effective with Paracetamol and Naproxen. I don't get side effects though I take Movicol and bicycodyl to prevent constipation in any event. Xxx

Hi Tinkerbell,

I had morphine patches and I found them very good I also took don peri done for the sickness and both these things were brilliant. There are different strengths of the patches I was on,y on 5mg and this seem to suit me fine. They did put them up to 10mg after my debulking surgery but then I went back to 5mg until the beginning of the year when I was given the all clear. Sadly the cancer has come back.

Hi, I tried 5mg buTrans but they make me really ill. I now take paracetamol daily and top it up with liquid Oxycodone if I need more. I can take a small dose of this as it is liquid. Hope that helps x
